Town Car vs. Taxi ???

Hi everyone - we arrive in MCO at 9:30am on the 14th - the last part of my planning adventure is transportation from MCO to THE SWAN, then from THE SWAN to MCO on the 20th for a 6:50pm departure.

What are your suggestions - TAXI - and approx cost??

Town Car -- I've gotten quotes of $129 & $133 RT with grocery stop ( not sure if we need that)

There are only 2 of us.

Would appreciate your input!

A cab is going to be pretty close to the same cost as a car service. If you really don't need that grocery stop, and you don't have an issue with traveling with others, you might want to consider using the Mears shuttle. It's $34 pp r/t, plus any tips. I used it to get to the Swan and it was actually quite pleasant. That's about half what a car service will run you.
You can book it before you leave as well...just go to baggage claim, get your bags, and head down to Level 1, ground transportation. Check in with them and they will get you on a bus or in a van. Yes, you may make 3 or 4 other stops, but if you aren't in a huge rush, it's kind of interesting seeing other resorts along the way.
Just a thought.

I've used all 3 means of transportation to/from S/D. My town car ran $125RT plus tip, the taxis are $65 one way plus tip and the Mears shuttle was $32RT per person. So from a budget standpoint the Mears shuttle is half the cost of a town car or taxi.

Thanks for the info goofy4tink! - We were thinking of Mears - but my concerns were :

1. Will we have to wait for enough people to fill the vehicle? I don't want to sit and wait for others ( sorry don't mean this the way it sounds! LOL!) and then "waste" time at other drop offs - Since we arrive at 9:30am - I know we can't get into our room until later in the day - I wanted to drop our bags and head to HS or EPCOT!

2. On the return to MCO - our flight is at 6:50pm - with Mears my concern was - being picked up too early to accomodate other pick ups at other hotels ( I want to stay every minute that I can in THE WORLD!!) - or worrying if we will be picked up and dropped off on time -if there are other stops/pick ups along the way?

Yes - the $34 pp RT is a GREAT price though..... but after posting my concerns above - and your info that a taxi and town car would be about the same price - I think we will go town car - since it IS my 50th B'day Celebration!!! LOL!!

I think you've made the right choice. I did have to wait for Mears - they picked me up on the B side of the terminal, then we drove around to the A side & waited about 10 min. for the others to board. I was the last stop on the ride (we made 3 or 4 other stops offsite), so it was a good 75 min. from landing til I was at my hotel (I only had carry-on luggage so no baggage claim).

That's funny...that was about my timing as well!!! I did have a friend offer to drive me, but I figured I would take the shuttle in the interest of getting info for this board. My friend beat me to WDW by only about 15 mins. I had carryon only, and it took me 80 mins to get to the Swan!!!

If it's a special occasion, and you want to get your fun started, by all means, take a car service. It's a very nice way to go. Just wanted to get out all the various ways to get there.
