So here's the deal: we just came back from a split stay between RPR at Universal and Dolphin at Disney. We also requested a stop at Publix before our drop off at RPR. We had fantastic service with *********** for this three point trip. :thumbsup2

Next year, we are staying exclusively at the Dolphin and I'm thinking of getting a town car service again. DH works at Costco in our home town and would really want to visit an Orlando Costco  and we need to make a Publix stop as well. Could we request that? Would it be much more expensive to make two stops as opposed to one? Is there a Coscto between MCO and the Dolphin? :confused3

Thanks! :)

no, there is no Costco between MCO and the Dolphin.

Well, yes, there is. Costco is just off South Orange Blossom Trail (combined routes 17/92/441.

Taking the north exit from the airport to SR 528 toward Orlando, take exit 4, then two quick right turns will put you on OBT going south, continue about two miles, Costco is on the right just after the intersection with Central Florida Parkway.

Taking the south exit from the airport to SR 417 toward Disney, take exit 11, turn left onto OBT, going north, at the end of the exit, continue about 2 miles, Costco is on the left just before OBT intersects with Central Florida Parkway.

Believe me, a Costco in the US & Canada look so similar, you can't guess in which country you're actually in... Besides the fact that there is wine (like they have in grocery store in most US states), that employees speak English not French, and that prices are cheaper (like many things in the US)! Not worth a bother "just for looks" IMHO.

That Costco is approx, 10 miles from OIA and a bit out of the way to expect any Limo company to take the time to stop.
When someone asks if there is one between point a and point b, I take it literally, I don't take it as a 20 mile out of the way trip.

It actually isn't out of the way at all. I put it in google maps and it was literally on the way: http://g.co/maps/3vvts

If I take Costco out, I get this route, which is only 2 miles (and a whopping 1 minute longer.)

I doubt that the car service will be willing to make a second stop without charging a pretty penny for it - that extra 30 minutes could really throw off their whole day. Some car services won't stop at places like Costco and Super Walmart even as a first stop.

I wouldn't think that a 20 mile trip off the main route would be "on the way" either, but since your 20 mile loop doesn't apply here I'm not sure what your point is. The store is literally between MCO and the Dolphin - just two miles off either of the main routes from the airport to the hotel and not on some remote road but on a major local road that's directly accessed from exits from either 528 or 417. That the store is 10 miles from the airport is rather moot since one would have to go the first 8 miles on the same route anyway. So it's a four mile round trip from the highway to the store and back and that isn't literally significantly out of the way. Is it directly on the shortest route from the airport to the hotel? No. Are other such stores directly on the shortest route from the airport to the hotel? No, they're not either.

Maybe gmeh1 was thinking of the Costco in Winter Park. That one is about 11 miles north of MCO, so it would be about 20 miles out of the way.

+1

Towncars usually charge an hourly rate. Something like $50/ hour with a 3 hour minimum. Airport runs are the exception. Companies generally offer a "point to point" rate.

I wouldn't think of asking for a second free stop. Ask what it would cost. I'd think at least $50. It's not just the extra time. You might be costing the driver another airport run.

Why not just rent a car for one day? Pickup at MCO with a drop off at the Dolphin. You can shop as long as you want.

I'll e-mail the company today and let you know. I just wanted to see if somebody had already requested this. :confused3 I know that DH is ready to pay a little more to get to go to a Costco, but now, I'm wondering if it would be cheaper to go by taxi another day.

It wouldn't be a shopping stop, it would be more of a professionnal visit, to see the infrastructures and speak to managers, especially. He's letting me plan all the trip, the only thing he requested was this - and italian food, but that's another story, :lmao: so it's kinda hard to say no. :scared1:

Yep, that could be an option. How much should I expect to pay? I'm really clueless, we never rented a car before. :sad2:

Posters who asked were told no, not sure of the companies. The people who posted were only asking for an extra stop to drop off part of their group in another resort or to stop by a rental office to pick up a key for a vacation home. Even those stops were charged. I don't recall anyone asking for real second stop. JMO but it's a very unreasonable request. EXCEPTION. Really one stop. You shop at the grocery store and your DH shops at the liquor store next door.

You should be able to rent a car from Alamo, one day with a pickup at MCO and a drop off at the Dolphin for under $50.

Wait for the manger to be available. Talk. Look around. Could easily take 20 minutes or more. Your COSTCO stop is a "real stop"

I never said I would ask for a FREE second stop. :confused3 We are ready to pay for it. ;)

Last month, we paid 180 $ for a 3-stop service including gratuity (airport-first resort-second resort-airport), so I'm curious as to the quote I'm going to get.

ETA: the 3 point stop included a grocery stop as well.

That will probably take longer than a shopping stop would.

Cab fare would probably cost $80 to $85 round trip. You could probably get a one day car rental for less. National and Alamo both have locations at the Dolphin.

Sorry. I misunderstood. It's probably not reasonable to expect a flat rate for stops that may be for an indeterminate period of time. Your COSTCO visit could be 10 minutes or 45 minutes. You don't like the answer you get. Check with other companies. Ask for an hourly rate. Again $50 /hour (with a 3 hour minimum) is the typical rate for a towncar. You already booked the car for the airport run. You should be able to find a company willing to waive the 3 hour minimum but $50/hour for your stop(s) sounds about right.

Do you have a drivers license? Are you at least age 25? Just rent a car. Spend as much time as you want in COSTCO. Spend as much time as you want in Publix.

edited to add: Posters seem to be looking for free stops. I don't recall any poster willing to pay a reasonable (normal) rate for that kind of extra service.

Got the quote and it would be 45 $ for the extra stop. Now I have to talk to DH about renting. We'll see. :)
