We are taking a towncar on our upcoming trip. Do they have carseats for use?

I hadn't planned on bringing a carseat with me, so I'm wondering what my options are.

Sorry if this has been asked a million times. I tried to do a search, but it keeps locking up on me.

Thanks!!

Tamie

I am new to this board but have had experience with this so thought I would post. We have flown with both boys 3 times, First time my youngest was only 1, we chose to buy his seat, it was half price, and took both his carseat and his 3 year old brothers installed both on the plane, 2nd time boys were 3 and 5 again took both carseats and installed both on the plane. I should say my husband hates this, and I will admit it is a hassle, so last time boys were 4 and 6 both were of the weight that they could use a booster, so I did not take carseats, and requested 2 boosters from the towncar company. The plane ride was more difficult, 4 year old had more freedom and wanted to move around more etc, town car company had brought a van instaed of a town car and had two different boosters, one was not appropriate for the type of seats in the van. I complained but was told that is all they had. I called and complained and verified it would be a towncar that picked us up, it was however they forgot one of the boosters, only had one. I so wished I had just brough our carseats.
Lastly, in the van there was a carseat already installed that another child must have used earlier, it was one that I was about 90% sure had been recalled and it was not installed properly.

If you bring your own you install it so you know it is correct.

Just my opinion but to make a long story short I would take yours especially if your child is younger, it is great for the plane.

I'm only familiar with Tiffany town car. They have car seats but only in the vans. If you tell them ahead of time that you want a car seat, they should be able to accommodate you (in the towncars), BUT every car seat they have ever shown me was one that is not safe for a small infant. (more so for toddlers like booster seats). I'd bring my own if I were you and if that picture of yoru cute baby with Minnie Mouse is a recent picture.

He'll be 18 months on our trip and we aren't buying him his own seat on the plane. I hadn't really wanted to lug the carseat along with the million other things I need to bring for him, but I want him to have an appropriate carseat too.

Yes, the towncars do offer carseats, but we had a terrible experience with them. I don't even remember which company we used, but we checked, and double checked that car seats would be available for our 3-year-old and 6 month old. For our pick up from the airport, they had a booster for our 3-year-old (she was still pretty tiny, so this wasn't the best choice) and a forward facing seat for the baby (even though I had specifically requested, time and again, for one for an INFANT..rear facing). When we were picked up to go to the aiport, they had two booster seats (just the no back type), which was absolutely ridiculous for a baby.

So, I wouldn't really rely on the carseats. Perhaps it was just the company we used, but this has made me very leery of trusting transportation issues when you have special needs like this.

Good luck.

My son is also 18 months old. We just got back and I bought him a seat for the airplane, but didn't bring the car seat. He was fine on the plane (sat the whole time, stayed buckled).

We took Magical Express though (bus), so a car seat would not have been allowed on there. If we were getting a town car (like we usually do), I would def. bring my own car seat then.
