Hey Everyone! We are going to be taking a trip to DL in May and were thinking about trying the Tower of Terror. We like all the thrill rides at Disney(even the swinging buckets of death on Mickeys fun wheel :lmao:) but are unsure about this one LOL. Does anyone have any opinions or review that they would like to share about this ride? Thanks for any inputs!

It's awesome! One of my favorites. If you like the bucket's O' death, then this would be a piece of cake! The lobby of the hotel is very well done as is the boiler room where you get into your elevator. You get a great view of the park when they open the doors for you at the top. The ride always makes me smile. :goodvibes

It is a lot like the Maliboomer but instead of a harness all that holds you down is a lap thingy which can freak people out as you are sitting just like in a theater instead of harnessed in at the shoulders. I had my lap thing too loose and got hang time as in rump off of the seat. I recommend it and I have a fear of falling but once I got used to this and talked myself through it I was fine. I do nt remember WDW too much but it is similar.

Make sure you have no loose items as they do fly and I have heard CMs online joking about shattered cameras. People want their cameras back until the realize that the ride would have to be shut down while they vacuum up the bits and pieces.:rotfl2:

I love thise ride, and yet scared to death of it LOL! it takes me lots to get on it, and I shake like heck when I get off but I love it LoL

Oh we love Tower of Terror!! One of my favorites...I never hold on!!!:cool1:

It is fun when your lanyard that you are wearing floats right in front of your face!!!!:yay:

Now I haven't been on the buckets of death....:rotfl: (new to the site.... and I love that name) those freak me out...but I love ToT!!!

Maybe I will have to give the buckets of death a try next week!!! :thumbsup2

I say go on it and have fun!!!:yay:

Oh yeah - hang time is awesome! :thumbsup2

We love it...even my dad who is terrified of heights can't get enough of this ride. Though I second the not having anything in your shirt pockets and such...Dad lost his park-hopper last time...time for a lanyard :)

Best ride ever!! my absolute favorite, even though I always get so scared right before you know it's going to drop..... :woohoo: that's my hubby giving 2 thumbs up, me the peace sign, our daughter and son in law next to us...:)

Not necessarily. I actually love the swinging gondolas of death, yet can't handle ToT! :scared: LOL, however I realize that I'm probably one of the very few who feels this way.

Actually, I've never ridden DCA's ToT, but I've been on WDW's twice. My experiences with that one were enough to keep me away from DCA's. I know both versions have differences, but to me...'free fall' is free fall!

We love ToT. Our first time on it was two years ago, and my daughter was only seven. She was a particularly tiny seven, too. She loves it. The next year on our trip to DL and DCA, we rode it three times in a row.

You do get lifted right out of your seat. But once you realize you can't fall or fly out, you just simply lower back into your seat, you relax and enjoy the ride. Stow everything carefully.

Love ToT ever since we first rode it at WDW.

Took a few tries and a few years to get DD9 to like it, now it's one of her favorite rides. It's just plain awesome! :scared1: (Oops there goes my hair!)

Tower of Terror is much more exciting than it is terrifying!

I'm one that uses the term Buckets of Death, lol, but ToT is completely different. I'm not a fan of 'plunge rides' because I've been on some real doozies (Cedar Point Demon Drop, for example) so I was really hesitant of ToT. My husband eventually got me to ride it and I was a nervous wreck waiting in line. I did notice that there were 10-year olds around me that were calm and happy, so I kept thinking that it must not be that bad....
;)

What it does:
ToT is part show, part plunge ride. Part of the experience occurs while you wait in line - you enter into a 'library' and watch a television that shows a Twilight Zone interpretation of what destroyed the hotel. Then, you wait in queue in the boiler-room - kinda fun/creepy! Once on the ride, you experience another Twilight Zone show, but this time with a life-sized animation and lights...and then you enter the 'Zone!

The ride itself is a mix of freefall and fast upward shuttling. At two points you get to the top of the tower and look out over the parks, the rest is a thrilling jumble of UP and DOWN. Much of the ride is in the dark, which is fun because sometimes you can't tell which way you're going!

I went on the first time absolutely scared and got off to IMMEDIATELY ride it again FOUR more times in a row!! It's that good! :woohoo:

I'm not sure the lady in green on the 2nd row, right side thinks it's too fun. She looks like she's being forced to sit in a business meeting and is not happy about it. :rotfl2:

The ToT is my favorite ride in ANY park. I love it! :scared1:

'free fall' is free fall!

Bumbershoot clued me into the secret about ToT; somehow it helps me to know that it's not really free fall-- it is pulleys that are pulling you down and back up. So knowing it's controlled at all times is a reassurance to me! :thumbsup2

I love it, but mostly because of the theming! The detail is so incredible. The CMs we've had are wonderful, creepy in a funny way or vice versa. The actual ride is not very long-- the drops last less than 60 seconds. DD13 was like, "NO WAY are you getting me on that ride, Mom," but when she loved everything else, she decided she had to try it, or else risk wondering, ever afterward, if she'd missed a great ride. She ended up loving it! "Hey, that wasn't bad at all! That was kind of fun!" Then we did it again the next day and she enjoyed it even more, since she wasn't apprehensive about the unknown.

That said, DH was sweating bullets when we got off, and he's just not comfortable with it.

Hehe, yes I know it's technically not a free fall, which is why I put it in quotations. I wish that worked to reassure me, but I just hate the feeling I get on that ride even if it is a controlled pull! ;)

I will NEVER ride Tower of Terror ever again. I have shared my experience with those on this board previously, so I will just say, you can read about "why" here if you would like.

Whatever you decide, just make sure it's a choice you make for YOU, not because of what anyone else tells you. Drop after drop after drop can be a very rattling sensation.

I really like TOT and I will never ever ride malliboomer or swinging buckets of death again. I am terrified:scared1: of "open space heights"
The first time I rode TOT I felt truley scared like I might have a heart attack.
Not knowing what to expect was the worst. When it was over I thought wow this is a really well thought out experience. The next time I breathed :wizard:and really enjoyed it. I knew what was coming and I was no big deal. I actually thought it was over too quick! LOL it's a favorite ride now!:rotfl:

This is exactly how I feel when I'm in line.....I look around to see how many people younger than me are riding it and try to convince myself that I'm braver than them. lol. I love the feeling of being completly terrified of ToT, then after I get off I want to do it again and again.
