Ok...so it's been a long time since I've been to the world. I've heard that the restraints on TOT in Disney world have been changed from a lap bar to an individual seat belt....is this right? Is there something for someone to hold on to during the drop? I'm deciding if I should let my daughter (9 yr old) go on it or keep her off. She is pretty good with rides, but every once in a while she gets a little scared. If she had something to hold on to, she'd be fine...but otherwise, maybe not. :confused3
Thanks guys!

:moped: 19 more days until we leave for a huge family trip to the world! First time taking DS (14mos) :joker: and DD (9yrs) princess:

I know there was a handle on the side (by the cage) that DD12 held onto. And I just watched it on the travel channel but not sure of in front of you.

Their are handles between the seats although I don't know if they are big enough for 2 people to hold onto them or if only one of those at each seat can hold on. One thing that seems to help children is if you give them something to place on an open palm during the drop and watch it float. A penny, nickel or quarter work well. Just make sure it is something you dont mind losing as i have never ended up with anything we have watched float.

There are handles to hang onto...and cinch the belt tight on the kids. I stood up on the first drop the first time I rode it! I know a lot of thrill ride enthusiasts love that air time but it scares the dickens out of me. TOT is my favorite ride though...but I do cinch! :sunny:

There are handles between the seats and they are big enough for two people to hold onto. :thumbsup2 When my son was 9 he didn't have any problem, but then, he loves any kind of thrill ride and thought I was a wimp for holding the handles. Just cinch the belt tight and show her where the handles are to hold and she shouldn't have any problem. Have fun!!!

There are handles beside the seat but all the kids on the cars I was riding last week held there arms up! My kids also laughed at me for holding on and I only used 1 hand. Believe me at nine she will seem like an old lady , there were kids as young as 3 on all last week. It is a great ride!

My son is not a big fan although his little sister loves it. When we line up to go in, my son takes the spot nearest to the elevators, when we enter this puts him in the seat next to the wall. These seats have one handle on the wall and one handle between them and the seat next to them. My son puts both hands on the wall handle, it is forward of the body compared to the seat handles, and just seems easier to get a good grip. He also likes the security of the wall being there.

Isn't that a bit dangerous letting things "float"? What if they hit someone, or screw up the ride mechanism somehow?

But anyway yes, they're all seatbelts, but I clung onto the bars on the side last time and didn't even move off my seat. I then realised how boring this was and didn't hold on to the ride every other time I went on :teeth:
