We are staying on Disney property so plan to rope drop with the 30 extra minutes for resort guests. That said…..if we want to do both ToT and RnR one after the other, which should we do first to get shortest wait times?

Absolutely do Tower first. As of recently, several of the elevators are undergoing refurbishment so the capacity has been limited.

If you're early enough in line (maybe get to the gates 30-45 minutes before rope drop), you should be able to do Tower with little wait and then do RNRC with only a slightly longer wait.

I just got back Saturday from WDW. RNRC was always a favorite. We went on it three times, once it toward the back, twice in the front. All times we felt like our heads were being batted around and I had a headache for quite some time after. We have been on this ride many many times, and this was the first time we’ve experienced this. I don’t know if something has changed. I am 65, my kids are 30 and 31 and they said the same thing. Yes, it was stupid that we subjected ourselves to this three times. On the other hand, I always had trouble on space mountain and found the ride much smoother this visit.

Do tot first. We got to the gates a half hour before opening as they were just letting people in (this was mid March). We were towards the front of the tot line. Maybe 50-100 people in front of us. We rode it within about 5 minutes of opening and rnrc was walk on (walked right through the preshow). Then we did it again with a slight wait. We went right into the preshow room so maybe waited 5 minutes that time. TOT was already over an hour (don’t remember exactly what the posted wait was though).

Funny enough I have only been twice (2004 & 2006) and I love RNRC. But both times that I went my head went batted so hard it broke my earring. I have to try to remember to remove them this trip. So while I didn't notice the force, obviously it was a thing even back then :)

Tower for sure as it has been running at half strength.

If TOT is open when you get there, do that first. If it's not, go to RNRC and then come back to TOT. We practically walked on to RNRC and waited about 20-25 minutes for TOT. We intended to do TOT first but it wasn't open yet.

I've been worrying about this too, and was planning on ToT first, then RNRC. Good to know that's a good strategy!

Why was one open but not the other? (I'm just curious)

I think we had just arrived early enough that it wasn't open yet or there was a mechanical issue of some sort getting it ready.
