Tower of Terror is no longer a dead end!

I think they opened it up now because most of Hollywood Blvd is blocked with construction walls. Having this path opened alleviates some of the traffic. I'm curious to see if this ends up being a permanent pathway since it crosses the backstage parade route.

I hate it.

DS had "runner" tendencies.

I have been hoping against hope they wouldn't do this, b/c it was the one area in DL/DCA where we really felt calm and serene, with only the one way out.

Time to put on your running shoes! :goodvibes

Wow. My heart just jumped. I glanced at "Tower of Terror is no Longer" And I thought it was going to end with something bad. But that's good news! I have never been to Bug's Land so I am looking forward to using that entrance. :goodvibes

Thanks for that update with pics. I think it's good news for the Park, I think it will distribute the crowds better. Now only if they could connect Toon Town with Frontierland ;)......popcorn::

I wondered how they were moving people through that small sidewalk section of Hollywood Blvd. The new path should ease it some.

Albort how long is the path closed for during the parade?

So, does anyone think that the new path is only open temporarily while the hollywood backlot area is under construction or do you think this is a permanent change?

Yay! I'm excited to save some walking. I'm not sure we've ever been in A Bug's Land before. lol

At some point it will become permanent I think because of CarsLand access.

i do believe they do plan to make it permanent, parade wise, i think they are gonna route it through hollywood, should be interesting on what they do...

i do have to admit, the opening looks very tacky...

Thanks! I figured they would probably make it permanent but then when someone mentioned about the hollywood area having so many walls it made me wonder if they were doing it just because of that. Can't wait to try it out for myself.

I read somewhere that it was only planned as a temporary pathway, that is why they didn't do a whole lot of work in theming the area. Personally I think it needs to remain open. We almost never visit Bugsland because its so out of the way and offers very little for our family, but with the pathway from Tower we are much more likely to pass through and enjoy the feel of the area as we move into the Paradise Pier area. I never liked the dead end feel in either area or the congestion at the entrances to both areas that resulted.

"The walkway is hardly a shining example of Disney-quality theming, and it makes little effort to provide a suitable transition between the 1930s Los Angeles of the Hollywood Tower Hotel plaza and the fantasy carnival of Flik's Fun Fair. Nevertheless, the walkway is only a temporary solution while construction interrupts guest flow through the Hollywood Pictures Backlot." Andy Castro, Dateline Disneyland, Micechat

Disney, are you listening? Leave it open, completely theme it, and give the park a better flow.

they are currently putting in the tracks for the red trolleys...

I LOVE it! I agree the entrance could use some theming, but it's definitely more convenient. I walked from Monsters to Bug's Land the "back way" yesterday!

The pathway will become permanent and themed when Carsland starts finishing up.

The parade route will shift, entering on the other corner of ToT and running down Hollywoodland (but the Incredibles float in the Pixar Play Parade doesn't fit under the Hollywoodland entrance, so something will have to be done about that).

I havent been to DL yet, plan to this year .. but can someone explain to me why is this so cool? What's great about the change?

Both of these areas could only be reached from the central strip. Bugs land is quite a bit back from the central parade or walking route. You would have to wander into it and then go out because it dead ended.

TOT is down the long Hollywood street around the corner, past the Hyperion theater and down another street. There is nothing else in the area so you did a lot of walking and back tracking to get to any other ride or area of the park.

The 2 areas were actually right next to each other and now you can cut through and it will save a lot of around and about walking.

It keeps you from backtracking, plus if someone wants to go on TOT but has a small child, now family memeber A can ride TOT while family member B can go to BL with small child. It's just nice to have the 2 areas connected.
