Tower of Terror and young kids

My DD6 has been riding since she was 3, at least one ride per trip. When she was 3, I think we went through the line 5 times in a row, riding 4 times and taking the chicken exit once. She's not one to let a ride get the best of her, and kept riding until it stopped bothering her.

She wanted desperately to ride, though. She wasn't desperate to ride Dinosaur (I know not why), and didn't ride it at all until she was 5. If she hadn't wanted to ride ToT, I wouldn't have taken her on it, but mostly because I don't enjoy it myself.

I took my DS on it in March when he was 4 and a half. He was a bit worried about it because of the spooky story line, but he liked it so much we rode it again later. :goodvibes

We just returned and saw lots of young kids. My own DS (teen) exited after having ridden it last year. It was more about the drops and that feeling you get from it. It is like a Big Frogger ride (at those carnivals) .
I must say that we (dh and I) again LOVED it but boy, we really rose out of our seats this time it was VERY different than our last experience. They say it is all random so no two rides are the same, and I agree!!!
Meanwhile, I think you know your child best. We saw one small girl screaming her head off, literally begging to NOT go on and a mom that did not heed her at all. It was very disturbing and I was glad not to be anywhere near that childs ride experience. WHY oh WHY do parents "push" their kids, so many people were shaking their heads. I can only hope a CM, stopped them before they boarded, that Poor Kid, just awful!

When we went to DIsney for the first time my youngest son was 3. My older son wanted no part of scary rides but my 3 year old kept saying, "I'm going to ride the Tower of the Terror". I kept saying, "No, you are not" thinking no responsible parent would let their 3 year old ride this. Well, we got there and my brother and my nieces chided me for being overprotective and before I knew it we were all on the ride except my sister in law who stayed back with my oldest. My husband and I (non thrill seekers) were terrified but my 3 year old loved it. I did think the story line was creepy and inappropriate for a 3 year old (I would never have let him watch a TV show like that!) but he loved and and appears not to be scarred! Side note, we just returned from Disney and told Ben now 9 that we would not ride TOT because we were too scared!

Our first visit DD was 7 and DS was 4. Our family of 4 went on all of the rides that we could (height restrictions got us on a couple of them). ToT was the favorite by far. The only person that didn't have their hands up was DW (she was holding on tight). I do agree that it depends on the child, but also being nervous before riding is okay too; I know I sure was, and still am to this day.
