Towels?

Hello, first post here and I'm going to start with a silly question.

We're leaving for a long awaited trip to WDWR where we'll be staying at the Pop Century. Since we'll be flying in from Canada later this month, we're kind of limited in terms of luggage space.

How many towels should we bring per person, we'll be two adults and a 5 year old. I understand we need to bring some towels since we'll be going to the Aquatic park but how about the hotel, what are the rules? Will they allow guests to bring the hotel towels at the pool? Otherwise I figure two towels per person + two extra ones should be enough no?

We've got ourselves what Sears calls a Dream Maker vacation package which comes with a 7 day ultimate hopper and Fast Passes. Can anyone give us an idea of what to expect in terms of lodging, traveling from the hotel to the parks (we'll be taking whatever transportation is included, sounds like a bus) and breakfast? Also what time do the parks open and close?

Thanks in advance.

Relatedly (well not really) I think this is a really good site for ideas and tips. I'll probably become a regular here...

We never bring towels. You can take the towels from your room into the pool. We also took them to BB and TL and then just brought them back with us again. I hate packing towels, too bulky.

Sorry, I thought she was talking about beach towels. We don't take hotel towels out to the pool.

I did mean beach towels, however, the surname 'lord' in front of the 'galathon' might've given away the fact that I'm a gentleman.

BTW, how'd you get the countdown clocks?

If space is an issue I wouldn't bring beach towels with you. You can get as many towels as you want in your room by just calling housekeeping. There are even towel return bins by the pool for when you are done. You can take your resort towels to the water parks or rent towels there. I think the rental towels are a couple of dollars and are the same size as the resort towels. We usually take towels from the hotel.

Pop is a great resort. We stayed 10 nights last months and had a great time! There is a Pop Century fact post on the resorts board with lots of info. If you want close to the main area and bus stops I recommend asking for the 50's building or the 70's building. Just ask at check in and they will do their best to help. Take a walk around this resort. The theming is really fun!

We always use the buses while at WDW. The buses at POP were great. It is a short ride to all of theme parks. Your biggest wait will be after the parks close and even then we found they had many buses running so even though our line was HUGE the wait was pretty short.

We also found the food at the food court to be pretty good. You can get a refillable mug and they also have a carry out section with packages of donuts, sandwiches ect.

Any other questions just ask away!

We try to pack light so we never pack towels, just use the ones from our room. I can't help you with what to expect because you didn't say where you are staying. On site/ off site? If you don't know ask your travel agent.

Dont bring towels just take them from the hotel. And worse case scenario you rent them for $5 but we just take ares from the hotel. When staying on property they all go to the same laundry.

We never bring our own towels either. I don't hesitate to call housekeeping and ask for more towels if I need them. I've also rented them from the water parks but I don't remember how much they cost. I would leave the towels at home and save the luggage space for souveniers :D

I bring beach towels because we drive to Orlando. I wouldn't take any beach towels if we were flying. The hotel towels will have to do. :)

Welcome to the DIS!

Between this boards, the DIS homepage and http://www.allearsnet.com you can get tons of information.

I really suggest you check out all the information you can from these websites since they'll give you a general idea of how Disney transportation works, what Pop Century looks like, what the menus are and how much it would cost you to eat, etc.

As far as towels go, don't bring it from home. Just ask for extra towels at the resort if you're going to use it at the resort pool, or rent towels at the waterparks.

Pop Centruy is a very nice resort. Your child will love it. It's bright and big and very pleasant. The rooms aren't big, but how big of a room do you need anyway, right?

Have you thought about how you're getting from the airport to Disney? There are plenty of choices in that area too. There's Mears, towncars, cabs. Figure in a budget for that too.

Have a wonderful time... and please ask any questions you have. The DISers are really wonderful and helpful people.
