Hopefully someone on this board can help. I'm a housekeeping manager, for Marriott, and DH & I stayed at the YC last fall and I loved the towel animals that the mousekeepers made. I would like to implement them at my resort, but can't for the life of me figure them out. I've called the YC, but they don't have instruction forms on how to make them, they offer "hands-on" training only. Does anyone have suggestions on how I could obtain this information? Thanks for the input:D

Hmmm... I guess you could just get some towels and rubberbands and see what you can come up with. If you know anyone who's crafty they might be able to help. There are some old posts with pictures of towel animals... you could do a search and see if they pop up. :) Good Luck!!! :)

I was at dinner the other night with some family friends and at the end of the meal we got hot hand towels. Someone at our table made a little rabbit, I asked him if he could show me. It seemed a little complicated to me but then again I'm all thumbs :p There must be instructions on the Internet somewhere...

I've checked a few sites on the internet, but was unable to locate anything. I've also checked book stores, but all they have are books related to paper origami, which is WAY too complicated for towel animals. The housekeepers would be in one unit for hours trying to fold one towel. lol;) I've emailed Disney guest services and hopefully they'll be able to point me in the right direction.

I know how they make the duckie... but I wouldn't know how to type out directions... you roll a facecloth at a diagonal, then fold it up leaving the little beak out... it's hard to explain. Sorry. :(

The best one we've had done for us was a koala bear that hung from the ceiling fan!!

Yes, I know, I can't possibly explain how it was done except to say it used at least four different towels and stick on ears and eyes and some safety pins.

I have a photo which I should post if I can work out how to do that, but it probably won't help.

You presumably also need plenty of starch for the sitting animals!

Experiment!

What if you look for books on napkin folding? I know I've seen some that have cute animals in them.

Here are some pics of the towels they did for us.

Hope this helps someone. It was lots of fun to come to the room every night and see what they had left us.

I know somewhere on these boards someone had a link to how to make towel animals. I will try to find it for you after I put the kids to bed.

I would love to check out the web sites, but my computer, at work, won't let me open them. It says that the program is illegal, then it boots me out. Marriott may have blocked those sites for whatever reason? Still waiting to hear from Disney. Thanks for everyone's help, I appreciate the input.:D

:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: I did it! Thanks to Pigsty333 and everyone eles help I was able to make the elephant, a rabbit and my assistant made a duck. They are adorable and I can't wait to see the reactions from our guests & owners! Thanks again everybody........:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I am glad you did it. Try doing a web search and perhaps you can get some more. I'll try to find out more on how Disney does theirs. I know the cruise lines do them too.

Your guests will be happy and the kids will love it.

Take care - Maria

PSS: Let us know their reactions.

You might want to check with some cruise lines, too. That's the only place we've ever had towel animals! Never received them at Disney.

Now the question is......do you expect your guests to take the towel animals you make home with them....or are you expecting them to remain in the room after they check out? ;)

Read all about it here!

I'm hoping that the guests/owners will not take them home, as the price of towels are outrageous. If I find a big shortage then we'll have to stop making them, but I'm hoping that won't happen. Time will tell.

Perhaps if you leave a note in the rooms telling the guests that the towels are to be enjoyed during their stay and to give them a little boost when they come to the room, but not to take them.

I didn't take mine. I just took pictures of them but enjoyed coming in every day to see what we had.

The little boy they left us, dressed in our children's jeans, NYC Fire Dept. Jacket, NYC Police Hat and glasses reading the newspaper was by far our favorite. We had so much fun with that one. Everyday we did something to it, and when we came back, she had switched things around. We put the remote by the ear and we came back and she had put him in our bed and the remote was in the hands. We turned the paper upside down, and found him in the chair, legs crossed and with the paper correctly open, to the sports section on his lap. It was a hoot.
