Towel Animals

How can I increase our chances of getting towel animals in our room?

The only time we received one was when we stayed at the AKL and that was even only one night. I see all these great pictures on the threads about towel animals, etc., but we hardly ever get anything besides a clean room.

The next time we go I would love to get some "special touches" in our room. Any ideas how to "guarantee" a special touch or two?

You can't do a thing. It's a happy surprise. My advice is to expect that you won't get one and then be pleased if you do.

This is one of those things the internet has kind of ruined. Instead of being happily surprised, everyone knows about them and wants them. It's all about being disappointed instead of being pleased. :(

You can always leave a note for mousekeeping. We did this once and received a towel animal every other day during our ten day stay.

It does make you wonder how a towel could bring such delight? Yes, they are a nice surprise. Just don't go in and expect them and then you won't be disappointed. If you do receive one you could always write a note to your maid thanking her for her efforts.

Towel "animals" (there are so many other creations besides animals) are cute. They are nice. But they should NOT be expected. They should NOT be counted on. They are a bonus.

I agree with the PP. There are people who expect these things and then are so upset when they don't get them. I once got the leftover balloons from the front desk because I happened to be checking in at the right time and the Cast Member asked if we had had a difficult drive (we did). I would never expect that every time and neither should anyone else.

Best way to insure you have a towel animal in your room every day? Take a course and make them yourself.

Some folks leave tips for Mousekeeping but I think it's just the luck of the draw. If it helps any to know, we've never gotten one and I didn't even know they made them until I joined the DIS.
I picked up a book to learn to make them myself at home and after the first couple that I made and stuck on their beds at home, the kids didn't care about them anymore.

I was always just happy to have the room cleaned properly. :rotfl2:

IMO towel animals are ugly...they do nothing for me at all or my kids. :duck:

I would rather have a clean room and turndown than a towel animal..

I'd rather have Mousekeeping cleaning my room then delayed in your room making towel animals. :rolleyes:

Your post says you "hardly ever get anything besides a clean room" :confused3

Boy, I can't agree with you more. No offense to anyone that has never had one and really want one but magic that has to be manufactured is just not magic. If towel animals become no longer "magic" they are just a commodity.

Yeah...maybe Disney could offer a "towel animal" plan...much like the dining plan. Then we could all talk about going for "free towel animal"! :rotfl:

Have found the most interesting ones at the VB Resort. One stay on a rainy day we had a big Octopus on the bed with a note apologizing for the showers.
This last time there were Lobsters,Seals, other sea creatures along with an elephant and a dress shirt.

Agree. They are a pleasant surprise. Some have also come to the conclusion that since they have paid for the room, the animals are free to take home. A picture is not good enough. :confused3 Oops shouldn't have said that.:stir: popcorn::

Unfortunately, I've heard that the mousekeeping (a friend of mine is one) is really cutting back. Why? because of us (guest), when we get one instead of being gracious, we start complaining that we (guest in generally, not anyone specifically) don't get them every day of the visit.
My girlfriend does not make them any more because she says she is tired of moms hunting her down in the hallways every morning saying "excuse me, we didn't get any towel animals yesterday".

Not flaming anyone but do we go to the Hilton or the Marriott and expect towel animals?

Let's see...
You could request a room whose assigned MouseKeeper knows how to make towel animals;
You could learn to make them yourself, and, well, make them yourself;
You could try leaving a note for the MouseKeeper - but if she/he doesn't have the ability, or the time (that "clean room" thing), this probably won't work;
You could 'dial' the Housekeeping button on your room phone and ask for towel animals.

Truly, the only way to GUARANTEE 'special touches' in your room is to create them yourself.

The internet and all the Disney tricks and reports are letting too much of the magic feel like its required. I want....I want... I want. No one ever requested certain rooms or locations, you booked, checked in and took what they gave you. Now all the posts on towel animals, guests willing to pay or bribe mousekeepers with tips to get them. To us its just the magic of receiving one,, not a deal breaker. In the beginning, a mousekeeper made one and placed it in a room, another thought it was a cute idea and learned how to too, boom, now everyone wants them, ruined the magic.

We go ,never expect anything, towel animals up grades the like but when anything is bestowed on us, it's just truely magic.

That's terrible that all you've ever received is a clean room!:eek: You know, since that is all that most people expect from Housekeeping and all.

I'm sure every single person would love to have "special touches" in their room. But a clean room is all we ever expect from Housekeeping.

Really,this is common sense, we are not " guaranteed " anything. If you want a "guarantee" then the best way is to make your own "magic"!
