Towel Animals at Moderates

Previously we only stayed at deluxes (Poly and GF). This year we're trying a moderate (POR). I've been reading a lot of posts about POR families getting towel animals from mousekeeping. I've also noticed other posters besides myself, saying that when they stayed at deluxes they never got towel animals (we didn't either). Do the deluxes seem more inclined to leave towel animals thinking that they are more "kid friendly" resorts? I'd be interesting in knowing others experiences.

The towel animals are left by housekeepers that know how to make them! Not all know how. And it doesn't matter whether you are value, mod, or deluxe. If you happen to have a housekeeper who knows how and feels like it, you may get them.

My family had 3 rooms at AKL for 6 nights last year, and only two rooms got one towel animal the next to last night. My mousekeeper arranged my children's stuffed toys very cute on the bed each day, my brother's did not- not one day. We had very different cleaning experiences also. At POR the trip before, no towel animals, but cute arrangements of toys. At POFQ in 1999, towel animals nearly every day. So, it just depends on who your mousekeeper is!

I think it really does depend on who your mousekeeper is. We have always stayed in the moderates and have never received any towel animals. Only during one stay at CSR did the mousekeeper arrange my son's stuffed Terk and Teddy Bear different ways each day.

At CSR, I have experience both. It really does depend on your mousekeeper. One day we came back from the parks to find my DD's plushes in the window waiting for her to return. Once we found Tigger had gotten into the toilet paper and pulled it into the sleeping area and once we had a pool made with them lounging.

We have received towel animals at all the moderates. I also asked someone and they are to look at but not to take. I realize this differs from what someone else was told but the person I asked was in management.

I hate to start this up again, but I distinctly recall reading, on this very board, that WDW management (and the person posting copied the letter exactly for all to see) says that towel animals are a gift from the mousekeeper to the guest. Now, that doesn't mean you have to take the little critter home with you, but if you choose to, you may, with the blessings of WDW.

We stayed at POFQ and did not get a towel animal. I called housekeeping and we had 3 the next day. I should note that we never received any more...but the kids were happy with what we got....and we left them there.
Pictures were good enough for us.

Like everything else Disney it depends on who you talk with the answer you receive. I talked with someone in management at WDW face to face about this issue.

I don't have an email to post but all we have is one persons experience. I am just reporting what I was told just the other day.

The only time I got a towel animal was at AKL :p

We got them almost every day last year at POR moderate. We left cash and phone cards as tips. Our mousekeeper went out of her way to do a great job and even left some extra soaps and lotion. I, too, believe that what you get depends on who you get.

hmmm...I consider a towel animal a little bit of pixie dust...not something owed to me.

but that's just me

We just got back from POR and never received even one towel animal but the weekday mousekeeper did arrange dd's toys and animals in her pack n play. One afternoon we came back to find her stuffed monkey and her doll holding the remote control and watching Clifford on the TV. He/she also left us extra soaps and shampoos. The weekend housekeeper simply cleaned the room and left us nothing special. Both housekeepers received a $3 per day tip.

On past trips we have had towel animals at POR and other resorts and other times nothing. Come to think of it we ALWAYS received towel animals at All Star Movies the 3 times we stayed there.
