I recievd my first towel animal this week while staying at POR. Was wondering If I was suppsoed to leave it there or take it home with me? I left it there because i figured the towels belong to Disney. And I also was thinking maybe when mouse keeping cleaned my room after I checked out maybe the next occupants would enter the room and get a nice surprise by finding the towel animal. It was cute..it looked either like a dog or jar jat binks, with pennies for eyes and a a plastic cup and straw to make it look like the animal was drinking.

I contacted Disney and got the answer that you were to leave the towels. Others will post that they took them. All I can tell you is the answer I received.

I left mine - but I saw on my thread about towel animals that some people took them - at their mousekeeper's insistence. It actually never occured to me to take them - where would I keep them??? :rotfl:

They are towels belonging to the resort-not gifts. Your thinking was right. :goodvibes

I do have to chuckle at the idea of someone packing up the sacred towel animal in their suitcase and then getting home only to open up the suitcase and finding a wrinkled hand towel or two.

I wonder how much money Disney spends on replacing towels packed in someone's suitcase?

I had every intention of leaving mine until my four year old threw them in the last bag as we were packing up and getting ready to go. He looked up with me with his sweet smile and said, 'mom, you forgot the babies that Mickey left us'. Geez, what do I say to that one! So, I had to get over my guilt and ask forgiveness for taking two washrags home which he now sleeps with...But we didn't take anything else, promise!!!

We always leave ours. We always take tons of pictures of them so that the kids can remember them, but I don't wanna repay their kindness by taking their towels ;)

We left ours on our Disney Cruise, but we did take a couple of small ones from our stay at WL. I actually called guest services to see if I could purchase one or two small ones for my DD, who had fallen in love with the little bunny and swan. He told me to by all means take them -- it was only a couple of washcloths! LOL. They were held together with chenille stem wire, and they made the trip home just fine.

Good heavens! I took the elephant because two mousekeepers and the front desk CM told me I should! :guilty: I thought it was a little odd, which is why I checked. I feel so bad now! I'll be sure to take pictures and leave them behind in the future. Glad I have the disboards to keep me on the straight and narrow.

Why feel bad? The mousekeepers and the front desk CM to you should. It wasn't like you stole them. They told you can.

I believe this is norm when you take the Disney cruise. Everyday you get towel animals. It was very nice to come to your room to find a chicken hanging on the curtain! Or a beautiful swan sitting on the drawer. Or how about finding a dog with a sunglasses on the bed. And a cute bunny on the drawer! It's an extra disney magic touch.

We've been to disney 10x now and not once we ever received towel animals. I never really care if we do get one or not, but if we do, that would be really nice. Now, on the Disney cruise, I think I would expect them cause I said, I think it is a normal thing.

If they told you that, why on earth would you even worry about what anyone says here? :confused3

We asked the front desk at AKL if they were to keep or leave and they told us to leave them, so it must be different at different resorts. We just took pictures of ours so the kids could remember them.

We have gotten them several times and always left them - it never occurred to me to take them, just took pictures - but the last time the mousekeeper had glued yarn for hair and something (don't remember what) for eyes on them. She came by as we were leaving and told us to take them. I would only take them if they were permanantly altered (glue, etc.) and couldn't be used again, or if the mousekeeper told us to.

I have a whole bedroom full of them at home - have taken every single one home with me. Will post a pic v soon!
