Hey everybody.

Hitched up my camper to the new TV for the first time and my tow chain hooks and breakaway cable won't fit on the loops on my hitch. (They are round and fat) (No other way to describe them).

I got her home by rigging it temporarily with some S Hooks, but would really rather have something that "clips"

Anybody else here have a new Ford with this type of Class III/IV hitch and what was your solution?

Thanks!!

Dad's pup several yeara ago had S-hooks that didn't have clips. He looped the S-hook through the hole in the hitch, then hooked them to the chain itself (Does that make sense, I don't know how else to describe it). Would that work for you, or is the chain too thick to get through the spaces?

I use the links that look like the chain link but have a locking device that screws closed, locking the link on the hitch. I run the loop on my breakaway cable through this link before I close it up. You can pick these up at any Wally world or RV supply store. I think this should work with your hitch.

I thought of that Jim, but the problem is the opening on those is too small to get onto the "loops" on the truck.

I guess some pics are in order. I'll post some soon.

What about a srewdown carabeaner?

AND YES I KNOW I CAN NOT SPELL :lmao:

I would just caution to get something that is strong enough to do the job if ever needed. Wouldn't want replacement parts to be the weakest link in the chain.

Heading off to the RV parts place myself this afternoon because I missed getting the water line anti-freeze into lowest elbow on my water heater dangit!

Replacing the part is not going to be expensive and would be easy except for that all important issue of access. This is not going to be an easy place to reach.

While I'm there I'll look through the catalog to see what they have for strength ratings on their connectors.

Well, solved the problem. 5/16" Clevis Hooks with latch (my original ones were 1/4") and a 3/8" Shank Hook that dangles from the hitch loop allows me to attach the breakaway cable.

I keep trying to think of something funny to say about big hooks to hijack this thread like we did with the hitch balls, but I got nothin.

Well the loops are Round and Fat :-) (Any ammo there??)
