Do tour sell out quickly? I have always wanted to do a tour and thought on my next trip I would do that. Well it is undecided if this trip will be a typical solo trip or if my friend will actually decide to go. I may not know for sure until a couple weeks beforehand. Will the tours be sold out by then? He will not want to go on the tour, as he is not a Disney-nerd like I am. So I would only do a tour if I am going solo.

That hasn't been my experience, but it depends on which tour you're considering. I did the one where they talk about all the plants in Disneyland and that one was available right up until the day of. This year I'm doing the Home for the Holidays tour. That one started getting either sold out or started getting down to limited times a few weeks before my trip. I've also been thinking about the 70th Anniversary tour; my trip is in about 10 days and I'm still seeing plenty of spots available on that one.

That is good to know. It is seeming more likely that my friend is going to be coming so the tour will have to be put off until next time (2030?) But it still a possibility that he will bail out before February or April .

Most tours are only an hour or two, right? Since you're eager to do one, would your friend be willing to do something else by himself for a little while?

I am sure I could but I don't really want to "abandon" him since it has taken a lot to convivence him to go in the first place. I know I will go again, even if it will not be for another 4 years. This is a bonus trip for me anyway. After 2 trips in 2024 I hadn't planned on going again until the 75th. But I will keep the tour idea in my back pocket in case he doesn't end up coming for whatever reason.

In your shoes, I'd probably book it and then cancel if your friend decides to go. Afaik, it's only the holiday tours that book up quickly.
