Can anyone recommend a good tour company? We will be staying at the Embassy Suites Anaheim South and would like to be picked up at the hotel.

I'd also like some opinions on this. Is Grayline the way to go or are there better options out there? I could go for a half or full day. We are undecided at this point. We also are staying in Anaheim.

Thanks!

Just curious, if the tour picks us up in Anaheim, how much of it is going to be the drive to/from Hollywood?
Figure on an hour each way. It's 35 miles, but this is LA. ;-)

I will have a car during our trip to Anaheim in August. After spending a few days touring DLR, we were going to book a 10 hour bus tour on the day we checkout. Now I am reconsidering and instead venture out on my own to Hollywood, Santa Monica, Rodeo Drive, The Grove(many of the same spots as the tour allows you to get off at) and whatever else I can squeeze in before heading to San Diego around 6 or 7PM.

Will I regret trying to fight the traffic and just stick with the bus tour? I know having the car will give us more flexibility.

If we decide to go with the car, how long would we have to wait in the morning before we leave for Hollywood? This will be a Friday morning.

Thanks!

We did the bus tour a few years back but it was a 6 hour tour i believe not 10hours.

We also had a car as we had traveled from Vegas to Grand Canyon to Tuscon to San Deigo to Anahiem and then back to Vegas but I am really glad we did not do LA hot spots on our own.

A lot of the spots we visited aren't that near to each other, not to mention the roads will be unfamiliar and some, actually quite a bit of LA is not exactly nice.

Help please with driving advice for Anaheim -> Hollywood -> Santa Monica -> San Diego

We're looking at doing a customized private tour, much like folks over on the Cruise Line boards talk about doing when they go to various ports. This way we can see and do what we want to do and skip the parts that we aren't interested in.

We did the Grayline tour in 1995 and it was a good overview of the area. But we have our children this time (ages turning 13 and 11 1/2) so they have some things they specifically want to see which the tours don't necessarily cover.
