Hi,

It has been in the news that the tourist tax for France will go up staring September.
In a lot of hotels you pay €1 to €2 a person a night.
That price will go up.

For the cheaper hotels, 1 or 2 stars (not sure if this is correct) the price will go up to around €5 a person a night.

For 3 stars and up (again not sure) the price will go up to around €8 a person a night.

There is also a €2 extra for Paris region (including Disney) to pay for expansion of public transport.

This means that for the hotels near Disney the tax will go up from €1 -€2 a person a night to €7-10 a person a night

If this is true can someone confirm it will eat big style into my birthday budget.
It will make our off site seem not so cheap now
Edit will this be for booking made after September ?

What i can find on news sites and other forums is from September.
If you stay in a hotel in September or later you will have the raised tax.
This means it also counts for bookings you have made.

If you really want to be sure, you can contact the hotel you want to stay in.

I'm sorry i don't have more information :(

Thanks I've sent a email asking the hotel about this.
Naff as 3 adults on our next 2 trips.
What forum did you read about it I did find it on the mail on line.
I don't find the mail to be true though :rolleyes1

I saw on a Dutch Disney forum.
There are a few other non Disney forums (also Dutch) that say it as well, like a Snowboard/ski forum.

When i googled France tourist tax i got multiple hits on news sites confirming the forum stories.

This is a bit increase, it means for our trip paying 80 euros tax! Im sure we usually pay around 11 euros.

Bit confused by this. We have booked and paid a deposit for December at New York with tickets etc. will we now have to pay extra than what we were quoted and booked with?

No as taxes are included in the package price. It's for people that add in extra people into the room on arrival, or hotels that you pay on arrival too like adagio, we had to pay the tax on top of our quoted prices as they say taxes not included.

I have had a reply.
They said the are unable to tell me the price yet.
What I've read this may not happen.
I'm hoping it doesn't

This is a bit of a budgeting blow, it could add an extra €100 to our October trip I'm assuming Kyriad is rated 2 stars , thank goodness it's only 2 of us and I got a good price when i booked, off to have a read up on it.

Already had 1 email from Travel Republic explaining that the Kyriad no longer have the complimentary tea/coffee in the room and apologising for that, I had already heard so wasnt concerned. But to be told that and then that you'll have to pay considerably more than you were originally quoted I anticipate is going to cause a lot of complaints.

Tell me about it Jill !!
I was told 99c a night for over 14 years and was happy with that.
DH has been looking when I've been at work today.
I'm hoping it won't go thought tbh I had wanted to take my friend to some nice places to eat but this would eat into our food budget big style.
I've priced other places to stay today.
This trip has been a mare from the start no longer being able to buy cheap APs then Eurostar was massively overpriced for direct so having to go via Lille.
Still waiting to book from Lille to disney.
Dd dropped out so we have a bed the list go's on.
Aww we will need a very large glowtini when I get there Jill.

I have never heard of this before, and was totally unaware of a tourist tax.
We have booked through disneyholidays for early December, will we have a tourist tax and how do we pay it etc :/

You really don't need to worry honest.
Your booking has tax included :)

Thanks for posting about this. :)

We got caught out with this the year we went to Rome, we'd prepaid our stay when we'd booked so were expecting to pay just a small amount of tax per night, then they increased the hotel taxes there and because the hotel we were staying in was classed as 4 star (not IMO though!) we had to pay quite a bit more ..... I don't like it when my cocktail fund gets raided. ;)

I hoping it won't get passed tbh it will eat into my budget big style.
We been to Rome a few times there star rating is well iffy if you ask me.
Lovely city thought

Just read this will more than likely be scraped.
It's was for 3 to 5 star hotels only anyway.
Cocktail fund still intact ;)

I'm so behind with this! So does the Santa Fe (adding an extra person to the package bookings we have there!) count as a 2 star? Hoping you're right and it DOESN'T go ahead....

C x
