How many of you play tourist in your own town or city. This weekend we will be playing tourist in Boston, less than 30 miles from home.

We are taking DD and her best friend into town from Friday night til Monday...staying in a hotel, going on a whale watch, a duck tour, visiting the Harvard Natural History museum, the Maparium, having dim sum in Chinatown and dinner in the North End, a swan boat ride, (all mapped out by DD who is so excited to be showing her friend a good time...she's never done any of these things so it should be fun).

So how about it...do you ever hang out in your home town and do things visitors do?

Every once in a blue moon. I have seen everything there is to in Chattanooga. But do go to Lake Winnie on 2 for 1 Fridays just have a night out.

I worked at one the tourist attractions BellSouth Park the minor league baseball team.

Dh and I do this a couple times a year in a nearby large city-where I grew up. Stay in a nice Hotel, walk around the historic district , visit antique shops and eat great food.
:D

One time I was bored, I mean really, really bored. I went to the local rest stop & grabbed a bunch of brochures. I found all kinds of attractions that I had never heard of. :) It was fun!

Sometimes.:) I even bring a zillion cameras with me.:teeth:

Crazelion, are you going to play tourist at Riverbend this year?:) I'd kinda like to go to hear Randy Newman.:) I doubt we'll go though. It's too hot and crowded for us.

We do it all the time. Usually no hotel though, just for the day.

Oh definately! We live in Maryland, and are 20 min from Baltimore, Annapolis and Washington, D.C.! Perfectly settled in the middle of all three. It's fun to explore all the history around here. We are sitting on a gold mine!

We used to do this a lot more before we had kids. Portland is a beautiful city, and sometimes we tour around the tourist spots, like the rose gardens, the zoo, Multnomah Falls, the Columbia River Gorge, downtown...cery accessible. I'm going to play tourist to my hometown of San Jose later this summer and do touristy things with my kids- should be fun. :D

When I first moved to Cape Cod back in 77', I had lots of vistors and play "tourist" all the time, showing them the sites like the Kennedy Compound...whale watching...the dunes at Sandy Neck and Proviencetown. Now I just get family, mostly in the spring and fall...but a few with kiddies come in the summer just to beach it!
I usually take a ride with DD to what we call "down Cape" towards Provincetown once a year and really play tourist, do a day at the beach and shop in town!
But everyday in the summer here is like being a tourists on the roadways...unless you know the "back roads"!!

Since we are temporary residents (usually 3 years) to all the towns we move to we always play tourist. One of the great things about being a military family is being able to do and see so many diverse things.

I often play tourist at Disney World (when I'm not working there). What better place?

Best wishes.

Im thinking as the gas prices became higher that more people are thinking of playing tourist in their own or nearby towns.
DS & I are often at the nearby attractions (within an hr or so)

we did it several months ago and had a wonerful time. I would love to do it again this weekend, but with the race, I will just stay home and avoid the crowds.
