Touringplans.com says DL crowd levels are a 1, do we still need a touring plan?

First trip!

I have never been but it seems like if it's a one out of ten, shouldn't the wait times be so low that we can just wander at will? I know there will still be people there but I don't want to work on touring plans if the waits are really low. We have 3 small kids so not having to follow a plan sounds the best of course. What do you guys think?

It all depends on what you want to get done and how much time you'll spend in the park.

If you are focused on letting the kids ride everything possible, it's best to do a plan, even during the off season.

But if you just want to take your time and see watch you see, go for it! You'll see a lot.

Regardless, I would come up with a plan for Fantasyland. It'll still save a LOT of time waiting in lines, even when crowds are "minimal."

Not sure when you are going, but take TP with a grain of salt. It is, after all, a prediction. TP for DLR can be inaccurate due to the local population that goes to the parks.

almostmortimer-good tip/reminder about fantasyland. We could just do that in the a.m. and be free the rest of the day.

girimama38-yes it is just a guess. I know, I guess I am being optimistic.

We have a 6 day park hopper. I know CA will be pretty busy and will do a plan for those days but was hoping we could wing it more or less at DL.

And I will have general plans on my iphone for DL that we can use if it gets crazy.

Thanks! I'd love to hear from more....

I planned our trip around those low predictors, too, but I don't think they're very smart. The week we'll be there is also Gay Days and most of Phoenix schools are out, not to mention Halloween parties and general increased crowds due to CL and now possibly pent up demand from the recent heat.

We could provide more insight as to how crowded it will be if you provide your dates. Sometimes, TP doesn't take into account other things that may be going on (like Gay Days).

Yeah, I check TP for our dates a few weeks ago, we are going Gay Days weekend and a few days afterwards. That weekend was scheduled to be busy but the week was supposed to be dead... somehow I don't think that is going to be the case considering that CHOC walk that weekend following and the DLR hotels and the hotels on Harbor are all booked!

We are going 9/23-9/28. I know the predictors aren't perfect, I'd love to hear your opinion on our dates, thanks:cool1:

You will have low crowds Motor...at least on Mon-Thurs.
FL TP should include these steps ...Get there at Rope Drop and ride Peter Pan and then Dumbo first. The other FL rides can be done in any order after that. PP and Dumbo's lines build fast are steady throughout the day.

I use TP as well. It may be good to draw a few personalized plans up just for ideas as to where to go next.

Yup, and rope drop is at 10 so we will be up for hours before then, ready to go. Thanks again for the tips, I think for DL I will see how it goes, but definitely do the big stuff right away. As far as CA goes, that will be different....

oct 2erd 3 and 4th , what are the numbers for those dates? And is 1 low or high. I havent ever used this site your all talking about

I think your dates may be busier than predicted due to fall breaks for AZ and UT schools. Plus, that week will have quite a few travelers taking advantage of the Gay Day hotel/ticket rates (that's why I waited till the end of the month for my trip). I imagine it should still be better than a summer day during high season.

Most Utah school breaks don't start until Oct. 18;)

Yay! Thank you both.

I'm hoping most people are as confused as many here were about if/when the gay days tickets are valid. I even called the conference hotel res line about staying on property and the CM said, "I thought gay days was just the 5th-7th?" (Which I think the actual events might be but I think people were getting hotel discounts for a wider span.)

I would suggest having a general outline of what you want to do when, even if the crowds are going to be small.

That way you spend a lot less time having this conversation all day long:

"what do you want to do next?"

"I don't know what do you want to do next?"

"I picked last time, you choose."

Etc. Etc.

The 2nd is 1.1 DL and 2.8DCA
The 3rd is 1.1 DL and 2.6 DCA
and the 4th is 3.9 DL and 2.6 DCA

Those are low "predictions" according to touringplans.com We went in may when it was around 5 and it was a nice, we were there at rope drop everyday and never waited more than 20 mins but around 4 when locals showed up it quickly became packed! These are just predictions but is something to hope for! Have a great trip!
