"Touring" the resorts??

My next trip is coming up soon, and I'll have a car for the first time. I plan to visit a few of the resorts that I have not seen yet and check them out. I've heard of people who asked to see a room, but feel strange about doing it myself. Is this allowed? Encouraged? Discouraged? And if I do work up the nerve to ask, is there a protocol for doing so? I'd love to see some of the rooms if possible, but do not want to embarrass myself or offend others. Thanks for any feedback.

That is exactly what we did on our last day last year. After checking out, we went to Downtown Disney for lunch and then we finally stopped by BCV to check out the area/resort/lobby/Stormalong Bay and then we did the same thing over at VWL. We were cursious about the rooms too and I was planning on asking housekeeping if I could take a peek - I was only planning on doing this at OKW - but we met another DVC couple who was staying in a studio and they invited us to check it out. I plan on touring some more resorts on our next visit - not too sure about the rooms though.

This is done often at the resorts. The only time the FD really doesnt is when it is busy.

Simply say that you are planning your next trip and was interested in that resort. Would it be possible to see one of the rooms.

Like I said unless they are extremely busy or the resort is on high occupancy they will be glad to do it for your.

We do this all the time and have a "master plan" to visit and stay at all of the resorts.


It was only AKL a couple of years back that didn't allow after opening unless you had a PS.

We asked to see at room at WL last year because we were supposed to be checking in there the following day. They didn't have a problem with it at all.....
