We're taking my toddler to chef mickeys on Sunday and would like to hop over to AoA so he can see the cars statues (he's obsessed). We're local so will be driving and with the pandemic we're avoiding public transport so bussing over isn't an option for us. Can you still drive to other resorts to look around or is that locked down these days? Last time I did that it was the early 00's when I was a kid myself...thanks!

It kind of depends on the resort and the guard at the shack. If you were asking about the Contemporary/Poly/GF, the answer would definitely be no. But at a resort like AoA, its more likely that the guard will let you in.

Due to the Skyliner, AoA may be questionable as well…

The safest bet is always Disney transportation.

Your ADR should get you in to park at the Contemporary, but there is a time limit (I believe 3 hours) that would make dining, walking to MK to take a bus to AoA, walking around there, bus back to MK, and walk back to the Contemporary would likely we’ll exceed that.

Yea we can def get there on disney transport but our son is only 2 so can't be vaccinated. Avoiding enclosed small spaces like the monorail and busses (as well as the parks in gerneral) and hope to just drive over. Giving chef mickeys a shot since he's pretty good at wearing a mask for short times to get to our table and then we'll be fairly distanced. Would need to drive into AoA from the contemporary. We'll give it a shot and no hard feelings if the guard turns us away!

For AoA, as others implied, you'll probably be fine but no guarantees.
This gets asked a lot about driving to the resorts and whether they'll let you in to park without a dining reservation and the only true answer is, it depends. Every resort will have examples where they were let in and examples where they were turned away.

Just an update from today but we went to chef mickeys and had no trouble getting into AoA driving afterward. We just told the guard we wanted to tour for a possible future stay (true anyway).
