Touring resorts - parking?

I want to take boyfriend to my favorite resort, Coronado Springs, to show him the gorgeous lake and the fountain and maybe take some nice photos after we do Magic kingdom. I know people visit other resorts, but I'm fuzzy on Disney's rules with this sort of thing. Would they let you park without a reservation or donning plans if you explained why you were there? What are the chances they would be cool with late night visitors? It's just the two of us - no kids, no party of friends. When people visit other resorts to they have to take buses etc to avoid the parking problems?

At moderate resorts which don't have direct theme park access, it shouldn't be a problem. Just tell the sentry at the gate what you want to do. Most likely, he/she will let you right in.
