I just read Bob Sehlinger's "Unofficial guide to WdW 2005" and noticed he and I assume his staff assembled some touring plans some one day, some with kids, some selective rides etc. Are these plan doable? They seem some what logicial but are they practical (especially with kids)? Any one out there try them and what is your verdict?

We used them in 2003 and they were fabulous. We experienced very little waits and were able to see everything we wanted to see. My DH thought I was nuts planning every detail of our park touring until we got there and breezed through the parks.

Yes, they work. Very well in fact.

What I did 2 years ago with DS (7 at the time) was explain that we are using a plan for the park that day. I said "Don't you think waiting in lines is the worst part of Disney World?" When he agreed, I told him how if we follow the plan, we wont wait in long lines and not to worry, if we pass something, it doesnt mean "no", it just means "not now, the line is too long or its shorter at...."

Also, I gave him input. When we finished up the touring plan (or the stuff we wanted to do within in), he was given the choice of what to do next and when to do it. We rode Splash Mtn 5 times that day!

So it can work, just involve your child in the process and let them know the method to the madness.

My suggestion is that IMHO you use them as a guideline, and don't become so tied to them that you can't be flexible when you need to be. We have found them to be very helpful many times, but at other times when there were hardly any crowds we threw the plans to the wind and did what we wanted, when we wanted. Do take his advice and get to the parks early and be sure to use FP as much as possible. Have a great trip. :cool1:

Another question:

Is going to WDW at non-peak times makes touring plans null and void?

It's hard to say, even during non-peak times, the parks could be busy for many different factors. So you should still be prepared, learn as much ahead of time from the Unofficial Guide and from the Dis Boards, have a plan in mind and use it if needed, but again don't get so tied to it that you can't enjoy your trip.
