Touring Plans vs EasyWDW accuracy

We are headed to the world in 5 weeks and I found it interesting that Josh has our week as level 7 and 8's and TP has them at 4's and 5's.

Any insight? I booked our days based on Easy's suggested parks but just curious as to whether the crowds will be lighter than I thought given the 4/5 ratings.

Thanks!

I've tended to believe easyWDW a little bit more lately; when I've gone on my last three trips, Josh has been right on where TP has been a little off. My last trip in November, TP said I'd have 3s and 4s and easyWDW said 5s to 6s, and it was definitely more crowded than I thought it was going to be.

I'd go into it thinking you're getting easyWDW crowds, and be pleased if you get TPs!

Always found Touring Plans to be more accurate. Plus, their optimization option is out of this world. Especially when you get to the parks. If you have a list of things you would like to do, you just plug it into the optimizer and it will calculate the times perfectly. Love it!

We use both and find ourselves leaning on easyWDW.com for the day to day touring. The TP blog and other information adds real value such as the hotel room view, detailed restaurant reviews and refurbs. I trust Josh’s take on the daily anticipated crowds and have never been misled. I’ve gotten to the point where I really don’t need either for “where to go or what to do”, but find them both entertaining and a great distraction before another trip to the World. Josh is particularly entertaining and his humor is both self-deprecating and in line with my snarkiness. While he site isn’t quite as “pretty” or easy to navigate, it is stocked full of great reading.

The real answer to all of this is found in these three simple rules:
1.Gather all of your info before you go from whatever and all sources including Disney, TP, easy….

2.Pick the right park for the day using Easy or TP or TGM or UC or….whatever you like

3. Get there at rope drop to enjoy the golden 1-2 hours before the sleep-ins get there and use FP+ to book key later in the day attractions when the crowds arrive

Even if you are forced to break rule #2 (as we are in March) you will be saved by rule #3.

First visit 1976, Pre-2010 too many off sites to remember, WDW 2/2010 BC CL, Disneyland GC 12/2010, WDW 4/2012 POLY TPV, WDW 7/2012 (off site), WDW 12/12 POP, 4/2013 POLY with Disney Dream cruise, 10/2013 DLR, 12/2013 POP, 3/14 BCR

Thanks! I almost wish I hadn't looked at TP because now I will be looking for those 4 days! But, I will convince myself they will be 7s! Ha. In fact, one day at DHS he has marked as a 2 (I know this is because DHS closes early at 7 or something). I have never been anywhere in Disney on a 2 day so this will be interesting!

I was trying to decide if I should purchase TP because of all the anxiety I am having over FP+ since we are offsite and can't prebook. Didn't realize it was so cheap so I think I will sign up and try out their optimization option!

Thanks again!

At one time I was a big fan of TP. I loved making my own plans. Then we tried using it on our trip and it was a disaster. The times on the plan we way, way off and so was the crowd level. Our MK day TP gave a 1 for crowd level. What a joke. I even paid extra for Universal. Total waste of money. And I'm not usually one to complain about things.

I'm going back to making my own and using easywdw.

I've been wondering the same thing. Thankful for this post. I think I'm going to go with Easy and make my own touring plan. Although I'd like to buy the TP membership just in case/just to see what it suggest.
