Hi everyone, I'm new to using the touringplans site and I just tried my first personalized plan of the MK. Why would the plan send me to Adventures of Winnie and Mermaid before 7DMT? Everything else I read says that if I don't have a FP+, I should go to 7DMT first at rope drop. I tried optimizing and evaluating, but it still shows other rides first. Any ideas?

Thanks so much!

Look at where it put 7dmt in your plan. Is it right after the other two? You can click on the ride and it'll show you information about the lines, so perhaps there's an initial spike at rope drop and then it slows down for an hour. It could also be that the other two attractions have wait times that climb higher than the mine train, so it's advantageous to get them out of the way first. It won't explain exactly why it orders them as it does, but I've never found it to produce a plan that is horribly inaccurate.

We actually had pretty good luck with their touring plans, but I did a lot of tweaking to what they recommended. I would just drag 7DMT to the top for rope drop then hit evaluate and see if the wait times look better. In my opinion, they should. But I am not a professional, by any means. LOL

What @Richard M Nixon said. Also, is this an AM EMH day? If so, are you utilizing EMH? I have also noticed that both Disney's and TP's wait times at rope drop for many rides is over-inflated. If they are assuming a worst case scenario at rope drop, and then the realistic times kick in later, based on good empirical data, then that could make the wait time look longer at rope drop than just a little bit after. It's hard to tell if the rope drop wait times are going to be accurate though. Try doing the evaluate like @disneyfantotheend said and see what the waits are. Touring Plans has a forum where you can ask questions like this. They are very good at explaining how the software decides things. Another good time for 7DMT is during or after the fireworks.

EDIT: By the way, we use Touring Plans every trip and have had excellent success. I wouldn't hesitate to tell you to use it, especially at MK.

I think the touring plans can't account for being at rope drop and getting into the park early. If you put 7DMT first it probably has you getting there at 9:15 and by then the line is 50min. But it may stay at that level for an hour. For Winne the pooh it may be a 8 min wait and then 20 then 40 during the first hour. (I'm just making up numbers here). The programming is minimizing total time in line so it would send you to Winne then 7DMT. If you can do rope drop and get to 7DMT before that line builds up then definitely do that.

It is that it won't count on your being at the front of the pack for RD. It thinks if even if you are a few minutes late, it will be better to take advantage of other rides at rope drop. You can move it back to first you can evaluate instead of optimize. Or just start your touring plan after 7dmt.

My problem with TP is that they wanted me to cross cross the park multiple times

The problem is you used the Optimize button. It will ruin any good touring plan.

We have used TP for MANY years and have had only good results. I have always found it to be an accurate representation of how things should go in the parks. My family is always impressed when we hit attractions at a coveted low wait sandwiched between high ones!

[edited thugs -> things! Oops!]

It is important for thugs to pull up their pants before going on Peter Pan, Haunted Mansion because they may get caught in the conveyor belts

This has pretty much already been said, but this is how I used Touringplans:
Add everything I wanted, optimize (even with minimize walking and relaxed walking speed, going with a 5 year old/first visit) and it had us going all over the place. Jotted down the wait time, walk time etc it had optimized.

I looked at the map and wait times and reorganized things to have the rides listed closer together in clumps of areas, so we followed a trail of rides bouncing to our intended lunch destination by afternoon. I then hit evaluate. Then I moved a few things in the same general area and evaluated again until I got the order with minimized waiting times. In the end I had a nice pathway around the park that had barely any more waiting than the "optimized" plan with a much more logical pathway!

Hope that made sense!

I've used TP for 20 or so days in the parks now, and I've never been let down by one yet! I'd do what PP's said and drag 7DMT to the number one spot, then hit evaluate. Then look and see what your wait times look like in this order for those first three rides. And then compare these wait times with the ones you were being shown in the "optimized" plan and choose your preference. But, if you won't enjoy Winnie or Mermaid because you'll be worrying about how long the line at 7DMT is, then hit it first and check that "to-do" item off your list!

You will not be punished by the park gods for not following your touring plan exactly as written;)

The other thing to note about touringplans is that if you choose something that is not open during EMH, then it will have you wait until that choice is open, therefore throwing everything else off. Fix that, and a lot of issues get resolved.

If you have selected enough attractions that are open during EMH, it will put those first and then the others after EMH. We always do AM EMH, and it handles it just fine.
