Touring Plans Room Request

For those of you that have done this, have you gotten your request? Also, I've seen the feature on the site, but all it brings me to is the room view. Can't see anything further than that. Am I just having a mental pause and missing the next step?
 
We've done it several times. I've got my request about 60% of the time. I'm currently doing a split stay. I got my exact room request at my first resort. I just checked in to my second resort and did not get my requested building or floor. According to touring plans, the room I'm in now is a room with a King bed, but we have two queens, so keep in mind not all rooms or views are completely accurate.
 
Yes, i gives the view from the room and below that there is other useful information. Like sound level (not always accurate because it can't take into consideration noisy neighbors) and how long the walk is to the lobby and transportation.

I find it a pretty useful tool. I've had pretty good luck doing room requests with it. It seem to work better for me than calling or doing the online check-in requests (or maybe I was just consistently unlucky those times). Usually with the Touring Plans requests we get a room fairly nearby the one we requested. Once with a Touring Plans request we ended up on a different floor than we had requested, but our room was in approximately the same location as the one I'd used for the request. Keep in mind, though, that a request is only a request. It doesn't guarantee anything. If you aren't happy with the room you're assigned, the resorts usually will let you switch if there's another room available.
 

The room views are available to everyone and I believe the room request fax service is just available to the subscribers. There was a link on my member dashboard page to request a room.

We did not get the room requested, POR magnolia bend, but we were upgraded to the preferred section--very pleased. Parts of my request fax were read back to me verbatim by the CM checking us in, so I know that they are read.
 
We are 2 for 3 on getting the exact toom we've requested. The first time I think I might have accidentally requested a water view room when we booked garden view. The second time we got the exact room we asked for at Saratoga Springs and then the third time we got the exact room we asked for at the BC (although we did have to wait until almost 4:00 PM to get into the room) We will be trying it again for our October stay at the BC.
 
Also - when you're looking at the room view, there's a little link below the picture that says something like "click HERE to request this room."

I get that after I click request room in my trip, but there is not an actual link to click. Could this be because I only have the basic/free subscription? That's what I'm assuming.

Yep. The room request faxes only come with the paid subscription.
 
I've used it for my last 2 trips and both times got the exact rooms we requested at POR and Beach Club. It is a great feature. I go into it not expecting anything since it is just a request and not a guarantee, so we've been pleasantly surprised when the request is met. We are using it again for our upcoming trip next week at BC.. the fax will be sent on Monday.
 
I used the fax service and we did get part of what we requested.
I asked for two rooms close to each other and early check in.
We got connecting rooms but no early check in.
 
I did not get my request. The resort was filled with multiple high school groups. I will try again for the planned December trip.
 
I used it for the Poly. We did not get our request - not even close to it.
 
We used it for our trip last Nov/Dec at AKL - we got either the exact room or close to it. It was amazing!
 
Do you still do the on line check in when you use Touring Plans to request your room?
 
I think it depends on what your request is. Most of the online options are very general, so most conventional wisdom is to do a verbal request via phone and then via TP, but then leaving the online options unchecked so it doesn't confuse the room assigners.

I only do the online check-in room request if there is one part of my request that is more important to me than anything else (such as 'near the elevator' if my Touring Plans fax is requesting a ground or second floor room near the elevator). Otherwise I don't do any of the online check-in requests and only do them on Touring Plans. If you choose to do both, make sure your requests don't contradict one another.

No, that's not what @Disneylover99 meant. They are at the resort. They looked up the room they are in now on Touring Plans to see what kind of room Touring Plans says it is. Touring Plans says it is a King room. It is actually two Queens. So Touring Plans is not always accurate.
 
I have never gotten my request. Once I was pleased that it was similar but on a higher floor.
