Help! I am a Disney-phile but FIL wants to hit US while we're in Orlando! We plan on being at US Sunday Nov 9. We are buying tickets at the gate (just CAN'T convince DH or FIL that pre-purchase matters! ditto for arriving early - we'll be lucky to get there by 9) Did I say HELP!?? :)

About the only thing I MIGHT have some control over is the order we hit attractions -- this is my preliminary thinking:

Terminator 2: 3-D (Hollywood)
The Simpsons Ride (World Expo)
Jaws & Disaster (San Francisco / Amity)
Twister..Ride it out (New York)
Shrek 4-D & Jimmy Neutron’s Nicktoon Blast (Production Central)
Lucy – a Tribute (Hollywood)

And check the schedule for shows. Any rides I've left off are intentional. And I KNOW they include some of the biggies! This order sorta has us going in a circular path.

I'd LOVE to get some of you experienced folks' opinions on this plan -- thanks!

Looks like you have a good plan but I would do The Simpsons first cause the lines can get very long and if your going to do Jimmy Neutron you could ride it first cause as soon as you enter the gate it is first and shrek is across from Jimmy

Ok, so you recommend something more like:

Shrek 4-D & Jimmy Neutron’s Nicktoon Blast (Production Central)
The Simpsons Ride (World Expo)
Terminator 2: 3-D (Hollywood)
Lucy – a Tribute (Hollywood)
Jaws & Disaster (San Francisco / Amity)
Twister..Ride it out (New York)

??

I was thinking T2 first because that sounds like an awesome ride & I was worried those lines would get too long?? Maybe I'll just have the list of rides and we'll just hit 'em as we get to them?? I'm just so used to over-analyzing ride order with Disney!!

i'm sure opening times for some of the attractions vary based on date.
when i was there last month, T2, Jaws and another on your list did not open when the park did.

they had delay start up times for some of the rides/attractions.

I'm sure there's a good reason, and I don't know what you like but...

MIA from your list are MIB and Mummy. Two very awesome rides!

ETA, T2 isn't really a ride, per say. It's more of a show. And if you like shows, we think the Horror Makeup Show is a hoot.

i pulled out last months park guide.

don't try to do T2 when you first get to the park.
first show starts at 10:30.
park opens at 9:00

same with disaster and jaws, 10:00 opening

go to the website and see the opening times for the rides in case there has been a change from last month

Well, I am a total wuss, is why! But I will add the Horror Makeup Show to the list!!

i went to the site http://www.universalorlando.com/theme-parks/universal-studios-orlando/map.html and see the opening hours are not listed on it.
this is a general brochure for 2008 apparently.

i'll try another website to see what is going on with that. i hate it when things change on me....

when you go into the parks, late openings are listed on the park guides where you see the icon and description for the rides.

but i do know for all the times i have gone to universal, some rides have a late start.
T2 and jaws and disaster are some of them. they have an one hour delay

OK thanks. I am concerned about putting off T2 to the end because I have read great things about it and really want to see it. We likely won't have express passes but hopefully it won't be packed - we'll be there Sun Nov 9. If we don't get to T2 til later in the day, say after lunch to mid-afternoon what is the line wait likely to be?? Or since it's more of a show, is it loaded like a show - with a theatre so hundreds of people are in line, but then all enter for the next showing?

Understandable! FYI, with MIB, there's nothing to be scared of, really. It's a lot like Buzz Lightyear, if you've ever done that. It's just not so "cutesy."

Yes.

We had express when we did it, but don't remember if we actually used it. You enter and it's a big open space and everyone stands for the beginning of the show. Then you enter a theater grab a seat.

Well, yes...there are big bugs and creatures...aliens. But nothing really jumps out at you that I recall. You stay in your car and it spins and moves so you can shoot the critters.
