I will be in California mid July. we are starting off in San Diego, spending 2days in Marina Del Ray and then Anaheim. It is me and my dd (17) and we have never been.

Option 1: spend Saturday in LA, then drive to Anaheim that night, spend Sunday-Wednesday at DL. 4 full days at DL and 2 full days in LA area (we will get to LA/Santa Monica/Marina Del Ray late Thursday afternoon).

Option 2: my next idea is to spend Saturday in LA/Marina Del Ray area, stay there for a 3rd night and drive to Anaheim that AM. I am a ROPE DROP kinda person so I am not expecting to do a whole lot but thinking of getting to DL around noon, just taking in the sights and doing Ariel's dinner & getting WOC passes. And then on Monday AM start off at rope drop. I do understand that Sunday in the summer in DL will be busy...

any opinions?
thanks all, Jill

Sundays are busy, but it you're there at opening, you can get a lot of stuff done & gather FP's for later in the day. I always go with the option that will give me the most time at the parks.......lol :rotfl:

I'm assuming with Option 2 that you would still leave on Thursday?

We are spending Monday July 11-14th in San Diego area- drive north on the 14th to Marina Del Ray, explore Santa Monica and La area all day Friday & Saturday. We want to do Universal (thinking on that Friday) and LA stuff on Saturday. We fly home (from San Diego airport) on the 21st. I am staying in Anaheim either Saturday-Thursday or Sunday-Thursday. But there will be no park time on that last day...Jill

Sundays are doable, but I'd want to be there early. 4 full days during the summer season is a nice amount of time to get to experience everything & go back & redo some of the favorites.

With Star Tours reopening & the Little Mermaid ride opening in June, crowds will probably bigger this summer. I think I'd try to get to Anaheim Saturday evening & be at the gates for opening on Sunday. (I don't have the SoCal AP block-out dates in front of me, but I'm thinking the weekends might be blocked out at this point)

I also vote for option 1. But since you are asking people on a Disney forum, I think most would agree. I think we all kinda like DL. :rolleyes1 The more time in Disney is always better for me!!

LOL... I should have known better!! I am a WDW vet-- and very excited to be going to where the dream began!

I am also a huge DW fan!! I love both parks so much. I just can't go for too long without going to one or the other. They both have so much to offer and are so unique in their own way. Just don't expect DW. Everything is so much more compact. Be prepared to get hooked
