Tour Question

We are visiting DL June 13-15 (from SC so never been on West Coast - so excited). We want to go an at least one tour (we loved Keys to the Kingdom at MK) so we are planning on going on the Walk in Walts Footsteps tour. I have 2 questions (both opinion based - so give me your reasoning):

#1) Is it better to go on the tour at the first day of your trip (so you can know all the fun facts and appreciate them while you are there on your vacation) or is it better to do it that last day of your trip (so you end on a high note and by then you are familiar with the park so you can appreciate the tour even more)?

and

#2) Is it better to go on the tour at 9:30 am or 2:30 pm?

Lots of responses from experienced people would be appreciated (is the tour good by the way?)

Hi chriskakaras & :welcome: to the DIS.

I'd recommend doing the tour in the earlier part of your trip. Later in your trip you'll remember the tidbits of information that you have learned.

Personally, I prefer the morning tour when there are less people in the parks.

Have fun. It's my favorite tour. :goodvibes

I did this tour last summer in the afternoon and prefer afternoon since that is when crowding is largest. The lines for rides are shorter in the morning and that is when I want to go on rides. The lines for rides in the afternoon are longer and that is when I want to go on a tour. :)

Have to agree with this. Since we go during the summertime it makes more sense to go in the afternoon.

It's great tour! We really enjoyed it.

But it is a lot of walking and standing. So if you do the afternoon tour, make sure your legs and feet are ready. We did it after a very busy morning of park touring and I was so tired by the end of the tour. Of course, I am a middle aged out-of-shape woman, your mileage may vary. ;)

For the people who have done the afternoon tour before, how does lunch work? If the tour starts at 2:30 what time is lunch? Or is there no food for the afternoon tour?

This is what we did - we chose the 2.30pm tour and ate the sandwich meal they provide with the tour afterwards. Gave us chance to hit the rides early in the day and tour the park at a busy time - although there were only ourselves and another family on the tour we chose - we thought most people had toured in the morning. The only trouble was the day we chose (in July) turned out to be a scorcher (90 degree +) and I would imagine children or older people might have struggled with walking in the heat.

They gave us the sandwich after the tour was essentially over - at maybe 5PM.
