I've been looking into the Undiscovered Future World tour today which my Dad would really love, and my Mum is obsessed with pins so the little treat at the end would go down very well indeed! I am 19, so I am not the problem! However, my sisters are 15 and 13, and would be too young for the tour. A lovely CM assured me on the phone that they would be able to view Illuminations/Have lunch with us afterwards, but I really don't think my parents would be comfortable with them being in the park alone for 4-5 hours!

Do I have any options? Is there a sitting service or similar for that age? Am I overreacting and will they be perfectly fine on their own? (this will be their 15th and 13th trips to WDW respectively, so since they may aswell live there they aren't going to get lost! :lmao:)

Any responses would be appreciated - thanks!

If your parents are not ok with them being in the park for that long alone you could skip the tour to watch your sisters and let your parents go. That would be a nice treat for them.

Would you be willing to stay with your sisters while your parents go on the tour? I know it's not the best option for you though!

I think they would probably be fine on their own for those few hours. The question is, would your mom be able to enjoy the tour, or would she be busy worrying about them?

As a parent I would be ok with my kids in the park on their own for a few hours given their familiarity, responsibilty, comfort levels and ability to get along. But I'm not your mother ;)

I think your options are to just send your parents on the tour with you staying with your sisters, or ask your parents if they are ok with your sisters being on their own for a while

Have a fun trip!

Honestly, I think your best bet it letting your parents know your sisters will be fine for those few hours. There's obviously tons for them to do in Epcot, and as long as they stay in the park, they'll be fine.

I think it's either you stay with them or they stay alone (or no one goes on the tour). Don't even think about suggesting or looking for a child-care or "sitting" service for a 13 and 15 year old! It wasn't that long ago that you were 15 - how would you have felt about that kind of suggestion?

I think another big question is whether your sisters are mature enough to be left alone for that time frame. I know teens who shouldn't be left alone for more than 5 minutes because they get in trouble immediately. And others who are responsible enough to fly to a different country by themselves.

I would vote for YOU watching your sister and let your parents go on the tour. If you are having to ask strangers if YOUR sisters will be ok alone for 4 or 5 hours then you aren't even sure yourself if they are mature or responsible enough to keep from getting in trouble or getting snatched up by some child molester pervert.

I have gone with two band trips where we let the kids tour by themselves in groups.

The first group was 8th to 12th graders and the second time 7th to 12th graders including 2 or 3 12 year olds.

Only you and your parents know your sisters.

Also so you know, Disney's policy is that you have to be 10, yes 10, to tour the parks alone.

As for sitters I can't think of anyplace that would accept anyone over 12.

I have a 13 yo who would be horrified at the thought of a babysitter. If your mom and dad are comfortable with them touring alone, then go on the tour with them, but if not, I would stay with the younger ones and let your parents go.

HI I think only you can answer that question. Each child and family is diff. I just let my oldest of 5 children age 17 go to Disney for 8 nights with 5 other girls ages 18 and never looked back. The other girls were graduating high school my daughter is a jr and will graduate next year this was their senior trip. My daughter has been to disney2 times per year since birth she acted as there tour guide they stayed at boardwalk in a deluxe club level room so all 6 could be in the same room and I felt very safe with them being there. All 6 girls have a good head on their shoulders so we had no problems at all. So only you and Mom know how your younger sisters would be for that time alone. good luck :)

I really think, at their ages, they'd be fine on their own! Heck, summer is here, and my 13 and 14 year olds are out and about around town for most of the day with their friends. At my kids' ages, I'd be fine having them be alone in the parks with my younger kids!

Is this tour for them or for you? As a parent, I'd want either all of my kids or none of my kids with me. If I had only 1 of my kids I'd feel obligated to find something special to do with each of the other ones individually as well. If this is something you're wanting to do special for them then gift them an adult only tour or else find something that can include all of your siblings.

If your parents are not ok with them being in the park for that long alone you could skip the tour to watch your sisters and let your parents go. That would be a nice treat for them.

:thumbsup2

I'd give them some time alone to enjoy themselves. This will also give you quality time with your sisters.

A sitter for 15 and 13 year olds? Are you kidding? Would you have stood for a sitter at that age?

I agree with the others. Either assure your parents that your sisters would be fine for a few hours, or you stay with them.

I think this tour is only 3-4 hours and I think your sisters will be fine by themselves, if they had a cell phone so you or your mom could check on them. We took my, then 15 year old cousin (her first trip) and she was allowed to go off with her friend at the MK, but she had to check in with us and she was not allowed to leave the park. We could also check in on them as well, and we would cross paths with them from time to time. We didn't allow her to go off after dark, unless one of us was with her.

My high school band often went to WDW with 13 and 15 year olds wandering around a park on their own/in groups all day. We'd just check in every 3 or 4 hours. If you have cell phones that would be simple to do. We did this long before cell phones.
Plus they know the park since you've been so many times. They'd be fine at that age as long as they have smarts about them.

You and you dad could tour and give your mother the pins. If you think that would be the highlight for her anyway. :earsboy:

For a different spin, what if you sent your parents on this *adults only* tour, and you found a different tour the same day that you can include your sisters on and they you and your sisters did a *girls only* tour. Everyone gets something special and no one is technically left out of the touring?

Thanks for the responses everyone :) I'll have to put some thought into it I think! My 13 year old sister is very mature and I think my parents would let her go in a heartbeat, but the 15 year old may be more of an issue (she has problems being in our house alone!). That's the only reason I called it a sitter really..
Does anyone know of tours without age restrictions? Perhaps I should look into something more inclusive of us all :confused3
