I have read several mentions of a tour of the bridge. Where do you go to get a reservation for this tour? Do you have to pay extra for it?
:confused3

We are sailing on the Wonder this weekend (February 13). How can I focus on work when I have a cruise starting in 6 days?!?

There will be information about this your Navigator (newletter). The reservations can be made at the Excursions desk during a specified interval on the first day. There is no charge, and I did not find it difficult to make a reservation. Both our boys (11 and 8) ended up doing the bridge tour as an Oceaneer Lab activity.

I found it just a little disappointing, because you are not allowed on the bridge itself (sensible), and I've run on the treadmills in the spa, where you have a great view of the bridge equipment. The tour itself admits you to a "secret" deck 9 walkway that goes around above and in front of the bridge, and seems to have no purpose other than hosting bridge tours. Your tour leader is down on the bridge itself and talks to the crowd of about 20-30 up on the walkway. He explains the equipment on the bridge, what it does and how it works, and answers questions about the operation of the ship. It's worthwhile if you're interested, especially if you've never seen the bridge before. But I wouldn't call it a "must do".

Is the bridge tour suitable for young children (ages 4 & 5)?

I'm sure it would be OK for some -- you know your children. But I think most kids that age would find it boring as it's about 20 minutes long and there is no opportunity for hands-on. It's just looking and listening.

The 8-9 and 10-12 groups in the Oceaneer's Lab take a group bridge tour. But the 3-4 and 5-7 groups from the Oceaneer's Club don't.

when we booked the bridge tour we were told it was "adult only" yet they allowed our 14yo DD to go.

We rushed off of CC last Friday to make a 2 pm bridge tour since it was something that DS9 really wanted to do.

I found it to be very disappointing. Just like ericthewise says, you go up on a little wrap around over the bridge and a CM who isn't even part of the crew running the ship just talks about the equipment. Nobody was even in the bridge area when we had our tour and one of the officers did come running in to check an alarm and ran out and then came back acting like nothing happened.

It was a big letdown, especially because you can see it from the workout room.

Next time we stay at the beach!

I too thought it would be a member of the bridge doing the tour, but it was one of the guys from the reservations desk. Not to take anything away from Rob (afterall, he was a fellow Brit), but his knowledge was limited to what he had on his prompt cards, so couldn't answer all questions acurately, but he did make us laugh with his VHS radio (I hope he meant VHF). Having never been before, it was interesting and there was a bit of history about the ship as well as a bit about how the stabilisers reduce the rock & roll, but next time I'll be going for the wine tasting (which happened to be on at the same time as the bridge tour).

I second that- that's what I'll be doing instead next time too! (Or staying on CC instead of rushing off!)
