We have just purchased points at SSR (sight unseen, but with a lot of reserach on the web and these boards) :bounce: and will be heading to WDW in April for our last stay as a non-DVC member. I was wondering how easy it will be to have a tour of SSR and its facilities...is it something we need to schedule or can we just stop in and have a look around the resort?

Every Wednesday, there is a DVC Member's Update. It is held at 4:00pm at the Cinema at SSR. After the informative update (door prizes are given out) there will be an open house at the GV model for DVC members- with a light buffet.

You should plan to go to that - it's a nice event.

If you are unable to attend that meeting, you can go to the sales center and ask to take a tour anytime they are open. You won't really need to take a formal tour, since you have already purchased, but they tend to discourage just walking around by yourself. Just ask and they'll provide directions and any information you may want.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the info! It looks like the Wednesday event won't fit into our plans - when is the sales center open?

I think they open at 9:00am, but you can call from your room (the call info is available on the DVC TV channel - ch 21?) or just check at the DVC kiosk when you check-in at the resort. They'll be able to advise about the bets time to visit.

Enjoy!

This is what I did on my trip last month. I had my parents with me and wanted to show them a grand villa. So we drove over to the sales center. One of the guides was taking a touring family over to the models and invited us to follow them. We did so, but made sure to stay out of the way of the tour and just look quietly around the model on our own.

Love the decor at SSR! It's really classy. Nhdisnut, I bet you're going to be even more thrilled with your purchase after you see the rooms. :) I'll be staying at SSR for 3 nights late next week. Can't wait to try it out!

Doc, thanks for the info on the member update. I've never been to one of those since I'm usually with others who wouldn't want to go. ;) But I've got a solo trip coming up, so I think I'll go check out the member update this time. :)

The sales models are open each day from 5pm to 7pm for DVC members to tour -- just go to Room 2607 in Congress Park at SSR. You can tour the GV and the 2BR lock-off.
