Tour Guide Mike vs Unofficial Guide

I recommend UG and subscribe to ***************** for $6.95 to get updates. I enjoy the humor in the book and found everything in it quite helpful.

As for TGM, I subscribed and I swear on a stack of UG that I tried to understand how to use it but I never could get any useful info out of it. I don't consider myself to be computer illiterate but I just couldn't get it to give me anything useful.

Could a mod enlighten me as to why the references to the UG's companion website are being deleted? I've read the rule on posting links:

8. LINKS TO OTHER SITES: . . . From time to time you might wish to post links to other sites that contain information not found here on the DIS. While we encourage this, we ask that you please make sure the information is not already contained on our site (remember, the boards make up only 10% of our site).

It would seem to me that the site would be postable under this rule.

I agree.

Especially, since I found out about this message board from the UG.

Besides that Tour Guide Mike dude never stops smiling. Its freaking me out. Look up at the top of the page, he's still doing it. Why won't he stop smiling? Why?

Because he isn't waiting in lines and has taken steps to make sure he is well rested. :teeth:

While I am not a mod, my guess is that TGM is now a DIS Sponsor and UG's companion website is TGM's competition.

I have used TGM twice now and I love it. LOTS of information. It's fun to sift through. It does take a while to get the hang of, butafter you do it's pretty easy. Well worth the $$$.

I signed up for TGM 2 WEEKS before our first family vacation and got a ton of great info! We went during a busy spring break week and TGM was a lifesaver. I used TGM again for our next trip which was in January. The best days guide was worth the renewal price. January was slow enough we didn't really need touring plans, but still used lots of the info. I'll definitely subscribe again next trip. I love TGM!

I also enjoy the UG. Great reading and info. I got a bad taste for the UG after using their crowd level guide to choose my vacation week. I intentionally chose a week they predicted with low crowds and it turned out to be Passover week and the week zillions of Eastern states kids were on spring break. Fortunately, I subscribed to TGM and my family beat the crowds and never had any major waits. Yup, love TGM!

I have used both.

I used to be a big Unoffical Guide fan, but this last edition should be subtitled "The Jim Hill Rumor Publication". There is so much useless Jim Hill stuff that it IMHO it disrupts from the traditionally "call 'em like we see 'em" approach I found useful.

I came back from WDW one month ago. I am a TGM subscriber and I would like to inform all of you that I have NEVER waited more than 3-4 minutes and most of the time, the rides were walk-on. Although parks were quite crowded and I saw 90-minute lines, it was just like parks were ours.... We will go back next year and will definitely renew with Mike !!

Just to throw another wrench in - what about Ridemax? Has anyone used this for touring?

I have always like the UG but I decided to try TGM this time around. It is good if you have time to read the reasoning behind everything. His plans are generally more flexible and relaxing compared to UG I think.
