We are thinking about going the last week in July next year. I have heard there are tour groups there during July. How bad is it the last week in July with the tour groups?

I think it's going to be hard for anyone to say. The groups were drastically reduced this year because of the Olympics and the Brazilian recession. If the brazilian economy rebounds well, I imagine there will be a decent number of tour groups. If it doesn't, I think the number will stay reduced.

On my trip in late July, I only saw them in EPCOT and they weren't a nuisance at all.

There was not a lot of groups this year. Usually when we go during the weekend we run into a bunch of them. We saw maybe 2 or 3 groups this year, compared to 10 last year.

No way to know for sure, but I would plan on seeing a lot of them. You just have to learn to work around them. Stinks, but it is what it is.

We were there from July 20-27 this year. We stayed at the Boardwalk, spent one day at AK, one at HS, and the rest at MK and Epcot.

We did see some tour groups, evidenced by identical shirts and a leader with a banner.

But that was it. No line cutting, no chanting, absolutely nothing else to indicate the presence of tour groups in the parks. Every so often there would be a group of kids sitting on the pavement, taking up some room but not blocking anyone's path.

They were a delight and absolutely did not impact our trip in the slightest.

This is a common misconception that ALL the Tour Groups are Brazilian.:)

Argentina has comparable numbers to those of Brazil with smaller numbers from Chile,Venezuela,Paraguay, etc.

The SATGs were almost all back in SA before the Olympics even started.

Also,The 15s look forward to this trip for YEARS and will sacrifice to make the WDW trip and for some of The 15s,economics are not an issue.

We saw PLENTY of SATGs this July-this "little" group here was from Argentina.:)

The entire month of July is "prime time" for The 15s-they are on their Winter Break from school.:)

Everybody has a different "opinion" on how The 15s do or do not affect them.

Here is one of the July Threads about them you may be interested in reading.:)

If possible, push back your vacation into August to avoid the tour groups. We have gone in late July and early August. Early August is much, much better. The later in August you stay the better the crowds and the less tour groups.

We might be able to but hate to because that is when volleyball practices start. I'm sure the coach will understand if we go in August, but she hates to miss practices.

Personally,I wouldn't miss the volleyball practices just to avoid The 15s.

I go every July for my Birthday and have learned to "live" with them.:)

We actually have a lot of fun with them(teaching them our football team's cheer,etc.).:)

If you find you don't like them, just head in the opposite direction when you see them.:)

We were at WDW from 7/22 to 31 this year.
We saw numerous groups of 15s in the parks. At least 2 of groups the size in the pic above, a day.
But at no time did they impact our trip. Had they not had on matching T's and back packs I'd have not known they were a group together.
I wouldn't let them deter me from my trip plans

Ok I'm not going to worry about it.

One suggestion-if you find yourself on a bus with them,etc.-talk to them.:)

Welcome them to the US,ask them what is their favorite thing about the US,etc.:)

This will "humanize" them for you-most of the SATGs are really, really nice 15 year olds, many on their first trip to the US and love to talk to Americans.

It seems like many times they are looked at as almost "inanimate" and not as "real" because of the tremendous "hype" around them.

I'm not excusing some behaviors, but the characterization they receive sometimes as all of them being "bad" is unfair.:)
