Toulon - what to do (with kids)?

Anyone have ideas on what to do with kids on a Toulon, France port day? We’ve never been to France so something truly French would be ideal. French food, parfumerie, etc? We’ll probably book a private tour - the Disney ones look either too adult (wine for ages 21+) or historical (church tour, etc.) which might be too much to expect from our group of kids after touring Rome, Florence, Pompeii, etc etc. We’ll already have had several beach days so unless it’s a very French beach with a bakery or winery or something nearby probably won’t do that - we want to KNOW we’re in France.

My daughter and I did a parfumerie tour when we were in the South of France, but our cruise port was Villefranche-sur-Mer and the port adventure was one offered thru Disney. I'm the sort that does the Disney tours for the peace of mind. We loved it. On the tour we were able to create our own scent and my daughter still uses hers! When I was planning that cruise I had inquired about a private tour through the area with a tour operator who customizes tours based on the client's interests, but, unfortunately, they were booked. I didn't reserve our cruise until 3 months from sailing, so I wasn't too surprised. I think it might be easy to have a wonderful experience using a guide .
