TOTWL open to all DVC members?

OK, so last week DH and I are at SSR for a last minute trip and he remembers the e mail he got saying the lounge is now open to all DVC members regardless of where they are staying. Want to go over for a drink? Sure, I say, love to. Drive over there, explain to Ms guard at guard house that we are going to lounge to have bite to eat/drink, show her license, room key with DVC member printed on it. "Do you have reservations sir?" she asks husband. DH replies we are DVC members, staying at another DVC resort, going to the lounge to get a bite to eat and a few drinks, no reservations accepted at lounge. She continues to look on computer, and then says, "I don't see a reservation in your name sir. I took all of your information and will give you a 2 hour pass. If you need to be there any longer, you will have to have someone from the lounge contact me here to extend your stay." DH and l look at each other, park the car, go to the door, pick up the phone, which connected us to the front desk at the CR. That CM informed us that we had to wait to see a CM in the BLT lobby and get them to let us in. We waited about 5 minutes, no one showed up in the lobby. We left and took our business to the ESPN club. Anyone else have an issue getting into the lounge? Just wondering. We did get a good laugh over it.

6:30, 7 ish. We were surprised we didn't even hit any guests staying there that were returning to the building.

My only comment is that DVC management stated you could not bring your car over to visit the TOWL and had to use Disney transportation. Maybe that's why the guard was giving you some grief. As to the other - I'm guessing maybe the CM was in the elevator with other guests or went to the restroom or something, but just making a guess.

When you call the front desk of any of the resorts you are actually getting an offsite call center far far away. That could have been part of the problem here too...

Last week there was a post that BLT now has concierge CM's staffing the BLT lobby where were they?

Please take the time to send a email to Member Satisfaction to see how you were suppose to gain access and if the lobby is suppose to be staffed and for what hours. Please let us know what they say.

I have stayed at BLT the 3 times now. When the lounge is open there has always been a CM in the lobby to take guests the elevator and put in the key to get to the top floor.

Maybe the CM was escorting guests to the elevator or was in the bathroom or something.

BTW the email also said that you were supposed to use Disney transportation. I am sure that is why the guard had no idea what you were talking about.

My best friend and I were there one evening last week wanting to try the TOWL - we took a bus from SSR to MK, then walked over to BLT. We actually both almost walked into the glass doors expecting them to open! We read the sign that said use your room key, but of course ours doesn't work there, so we hiked over to Contemporary lobby as it said you had to check in there. Asked at the concierge desk - he said to just knock on the window, there should be a CM in the BLT entryway. Hiked all the way back over, sure enough there was someone at the 'desk', but she was busy talking to guests, so we stood there and waited to get her attention. Of course, just as guests were going in, she saw us and opened the door. Then we had to show our room keys and my DVC card, then she directed us to the elevator where we had to give a 'secret password' she told us. Up at the lounge, it was about half an hour before Wishes. We went in to get a drink - very expensive, and the ones we ordered tasted awful, $20 well-wasted, but we were trying to support the lounge! Went out to watch Wishes, lots of people in their pj's, lots of kids on adults shoulders blocking views, got to see most of it standing back a bit. It was nice to experience a different perspective, but I don't know that I'll make an effort to return. If we don't have park passes (which we didn't this time), it's much more enjoyable to relax in a lounge chair on the Polynesian beach and watch Wishes from that far away in my opinion.

It is very hard to get in BLT unless you have a key to blt. IT was designed that way.

When we were there in June, the ground level entrance was secure (unless you followed someone in), but the sky bridge entrance at the Contemporary appeared to be propped open continuously. I never saw it shut in 6 days.
