What was your most totally outrageous purchase at DL that you would not buy anywhere else?

This past November my husband spent over $36.00 on Jelly Beans at the Winnie the Pooh Store.

Okay, we did NOT make this purchase, as much as mu dh begged me for it, we just didt have room in our house! He wanted a Micky Mouse statue dressed like a Jedi. It was only $150., but where would we put it? But i think we might get it next time since we are moving into a bigger place.

Our family of 5 bought those expensive "Incredibles" football type jerseys at about $80.00/each in Dec 2005. :) Temporary insanity.--but hey we looked great. lol

I bought 5 snowglobes one time (I collect them), priced at $55 (the cheapest) to $110 (most expensive). DH was sitting outside the World of Disney store, and I went in to do a "little shopping". :rotfl:

Last Christmas I got the Nemo and Dory Swarovski Crystal pieces. I casually mentioned after seeing them at a kiosk in DTD that I wanted them. Well, about $650 later they were wrapped under our tree.....

Me: Hi, how can I help you?

Guest: yea, can i get 20 Churros...

Me: ummmmm... 20 Churros....???

Guest: yea, 20 Churros...

Me: um, that would be $60...

Geez, must be a big family or something...

Glow cart... $150 purchase... 5 glow sunglasses, 2 name badges...

At DL it would have to be the N-scale Train for DD's train garden in her TINK ROOM (see Sig). But over all Disney it would be everything else for that room.:rotfl2: . I picked this up on a 1 day at the park on a business trip to cali.

JK we love our disney stuff and almosts picked up a Big Jack S figure that has him dressed in the clause outfit $250 I think.

Pins!!! When DCA first opened, I loved collecting all of the attraction pins, special event pins, land pins...

I don't think I have ever traded a pin, just bought the ones that I like. Those $6 - $15 pins really add up when you look at them as a whole. I stopped buying all but special event pins a few years ago.

Last October I discovered the Jim Shore Disney Traditions collection and had to buy the Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas figurines. My friend bought all of the same ones, we were so afraid of not finding them all if we waited. :o I love them, and boy was it a rush!

Its never really one item. Its accumulativeI go crazy when Im there. T-shirts, scrapbooking stuff, antenna balls, pins...and it goes on. The most expenstive item by itself, a watch. I think it was $80.
ImNoPrince, I love your DDs room. If my DH wouldnt think I was crazy (I think he already does:teeth: )I would decorate my spare room with Tink stuff.

Thanks on the DD's room thing and

As for the watches they don't count as we all need to tell time and I have 4 from different trips:rolleyes1

I think it was when we went in 2005. It wasn't just one item, I'd say we bought just about EVERYTHING that had to do with the 50th. I went completely bonkers! LOL Including the all gold train for my son, 50th snow globe, all the 50th characters, shirts, mouse pad.. you name it! My husband had some serious sticker shock from that trip (we don't talk about that anymore LMAO!).

The Fantasmic Balcony Dessert Buffet for DD and myself, knowing she wouldn't eat 2 bites, but hey, the view was worth it!!

Last year I bought a $50 gold Tinkerbell necklace. It was part of the Disney Couture jewelry line I saw in World of Disney in DTD. A few weeks later I saw the same necklace at a local mall for only $32! They also had differnt Disney Couture jewelry and I bought a Mickey necklace from there for $30. Another time I spent $20 on fudge on a stick with Pooh and a bumble on it from the Pooh Store. Never again! :sad2:

The last time we were at DL, the wife and I each got a watch. Mine was $75 and her's was close to $100!

However, that is nothing compared to those stupid pins. When we went to DisneyWorld last March for 12 days, she spent nearly $350 just on pins! Disney has a great marketing idea with those stupid things.

Albort - $150 spent at a glowcart? I don't understand why anyone would spend so much on plastic glowly things that will be dead in 12 hours! :confused3

Went on Splash Mountain.

DS (six years old at the time) ends up sitting in the front of the log.

Down the drop and SPLOOSH! One soaking wet kid! He looked like he took a swim in the river!

It was night and it was COLD!

Fifteen minutes and $100 dollars later, DS had new pants, new sweatshirt, and yes folks, even had to buy him new Mickey Mouse underwear.

Oh well, it's a cool, athletic looking outfit, and the best thing is that we can hand it down to our youngest DS for next year!!!

I remember posting this in my trip report 2 years ago...
8 yr old DD gets into autopia and sits in something wet. She was in her own car. When she gets out she said the seat was wet.
After a sniff - its PEE!!!!!!!! She sat in some kids pee!!!! Quick trip to mainstreet and $80 later she had a new princess track suit. I didn't have enough $$ on me to buy undies so she had to go with no undies all day.
Now, thinking back, I wish I had told a CM, I probably would have gotten the outfit discounted or maybe even comped? All that was in my head was ICK EWWWWW ICKY and I had to get her out of her clothes!

Oh I thought of another one! My ds talked me in to going on Grizzly River Rapids (I'd never done it before, stomach doesn't handle the drops too well). Well it was in the early evening hours, still light outside. But after we got off I was soaking wet (he didn't get very wet at all!) and here we were sitting there waiting for the EP to start. I was FREEZING! I told my DH to go get me something in that store in a hurry! I didn't care what it cost! LOL I think it was like a $60-70 grumpy hooded sweatshirt. All because I was cold, and had no sweater on me! But I LOVE the sweatshirt now. We fight over it when we go to DL now. LOL

In 05.my watch band broke. The watch was still good, but what the hey.$60.00 later I've got a new Star Wars watch(I know,it's DL). Same trip my son and I splurged on a (WDW) Monorail set.$80.00.

Now if I really had the $$$$,there was a $3,000.00 jacket at the Disney Gallery.(where I'd wear it,I have no idea).

For me it'd have to be pins... I am addicted!!! Once I spent $300 in the huge pin store in Tomorrowland. It had to be done!! I can't walk past that huge wall of pins and not pick anything up. :rotfl:

Pins are by FARRRR my biggest weakness when at the Resort.

It was when they had the promotion of spend so much and get a free pin bag (small tiny ones of course) though so I ended up with a couple of bags of pin bags and then a bag of pins which was rather heavy. I did get a lot of the pins I had wanted whilst going around the Resort though so it was worth it. And they do grow in value so why the hell not I say!! :thumbsup2
