DD is beginning a year-long internship at the Florida Studio Theater in Sarasota in August. :):sad1: DH and I will be driving her car down for her and will then help her get settled and fly home (to come back to WDW a week later w/DBr!!). Since she will begin working right away and will be totally unfamiliar with the area (yes, she's taking a GPS), I'd rather not have her bring us to the airport and have to drive back to Sarasota alone. Are there any other, moderately reasonable alternatives? Any car services in that area?

TIA

DH and I need to get from her apt in Sarasota to the airport in Tampa. I am then flying from CT to MCO with my brother the following week and I am a pro at that!!!

Not many affordable car services on that route, I don't think. The ones I've seen are very pricey. (Look at RideFly.com for prices). Your best bet may be to have her drop you at the Sarasota airport to pick up a one-day car rental to get back up to Tampa. (The Sarasota airport is TINY). Usually there is no drop-off charge between the two. Looks like you can get something small for under $50 on a weekend day.

Another option is stop off at TPA to pick up a Pricelined car on the way down. That way you'll have two cars at your disposal in Sarasota, and you can drive it back up whenever you feel like leaving.

If anyone is bridge-phobic, know that the usual route between them crosses the Skyway bridge; if you feel that you need to go around the long way, allow extra time. (My DH has issues with the Skyway. I always drive that leg so that we don't have to take the long route: he leans back and stares at the sky for 6 miles.)

I am SEVERELY bridge-phobic!!! DH would have to drive. I close my eyes before the bridge is even in sight (I actually only have problems with steep bridges and I hear this is a doozy!) and keep them closed until we're a good way past. I do like the idea of a one-way car rental. It would only be the 2 of us so we could rent a really small car and it would most likely be on a Thursday. Do you have links to the rental site? Thanks for your help (esp the bridge!)

Yes, you might describe the Skyway as a doozy. ;) Personally I love big bridges -- I find them exhilarating, kind of like a roller coaster that I can control.

Take a look at breezenet.com. I plugged in a random Thursday in August and got several rates for under $50. You might do better with a membership code if you can find one, but there are not that many deals on one-day rentals.

because I love roller coasters and Tower of Terror drop-type rides :confused3. I blame my brother. When we were young he said that every bridge we went over was a draw bridge and likely to open with us on the top!! Just wait til I get him to WDW - can anyone say Beverly?!?!

And, again, thank you both for the help!!! I love my fellow Dissers!!
