My fiance and I are getting married in a few weeks. He has two kids from his first marriage. I need help coming up with songs for my first dance with my new stepson and stepdaughter. We get along very well but I just want to try to do everything I can to make things as smooth as possible. Any other suggestions would be appreciated as well. Of course I am trying to work it out so our first 'family vacation' will be DW, but we'll have to wait and see about that. TIA

Why would you dance with your stepdaughter? :confused3

Anyway, ask your DJ or band; they will know which are the most popular songs for the significant dances. One that is often used for a symbolic dance with a child is Louis Armstrong's Wonderful World.

Do you want a fast or slow song? How old are the kids?

DUH---I just saw the 10 & 5 in your siggy.

heres just a few suggestions..
Your love Jim Brickman and Michelle Wright
The gift Jim Brickman and Martina Mcbride
YOu are the love of my life Jim brickman and Michael w smith
When you love someone Bryan Adams
My everything Keith Urban
I will be here Steven Curtis Chapman
From this moment Shania twain and brain mcknight

I love all of these.. beautiful music

sometimes if you think the dancing might be a bit awkward a faster, less sentimental song might be better-- maybe the dj could blend a medley of "My Girl" and "My Guy" (Motown faves both) for you. Then, everyone can just get silly together, all four of you, and you can have the DJ invite other families to join you after a few minutes. Little kids love to twirl and be twirled-- a few twirls, a dip, and you're set. But with a 10 yr old boy, that could be uncomfortable, too..
My DD4 LOVES to dance around the living room to "Moondance," "Sweet Caroline," and "Brown Eyed Girl" and while they all can be interpreted as a bit inappropriate in their subtext, they are fun songs to dance around to! "Celebration" by Kool and the Gang is another big favorite and would be really appropriate, too I think.

Because, really, the dance with kids is more about celebrating than it is about displaying a romantic connection, right? So why slow dance?

How about dancing with all four of you to "We are Family." It's fun and would be a cute moment.
