Hi, sorry to bother you with what is probably a silly question??!!:lmao:

I am considering buying into the DVC with a purchase at BLT, but I have just read another thread where someone is considering purchasing BCV.

I am a bit confused as I thought that BCV was an old DVC, and was therefore wondering how someone could purchase it now??

Sorry if this is a silly question, but I would love to own both at BLT & BCV and wondered how that was possible.

thanks again!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Disney is selling BLT and AKL as their primary focus. They will also sell points that they have at the other "closed" resorts upon request. Disney gets these points at closed resorts through things like foreclosures, or unpaid dues.

The post you read may also have been talking about buying points on the resale market. The Timeshare Store (sponser at the top of the page) is one of the resellers who has offers for all of the DVC resorts. You might be able to save yourself some money buy buying resale, but it does take longer.

"Sold out" resorts such as BCV are usually actually for sale through Disney because: (a) Disney can and does at times excercise its right of first refusal on a resale and thus purchases the points being sold on the market and then offers them again for sale through Disney (at a higher price than Disney got them through the resale market); and (b) owners occasionally default on their loans (or dues) and Disney gets the property back through foreclosure and then sells points it got back.

Of course, if you want BCV, you don't have to go through Disney as there is a resale market (click on, for example, DVC-resales.com icon at top of this page.

One way to get both resorts is to buy BCV through resale (while you can get through Disney possibly, it will be a lot more expensive) and then once a member, add on at BLT.

Good luck!

That is exactly what I am in the process of doing. The closing documents and money have been sent and I am waiting to close. As soon as that is complete, I will be buying into BLT!:thumbsup2

Congratulations! That is how I started, but with VWL. Bought some points there and then added on at BLT. Will be adding on another 50 points at BLT right before the incentives are rumored to expire (June 15th).

This way, if they have new incentives that are better, I can change...if not, I will be locked in to the $8.00 point discount they are currently giving for 50 point contracts.

I also am starting with VWL! How do you add on at the last minute and still be able to change incentives? I thought that you just call and charge the purchase on a charge card.

If your contract has not yet closed, you can amend your contract to change the number of points purchased or the incentives used. However, once your contract is closed (deed sent for recording), you are locked in. Typically, when buying through Disney, it takes approximately 30 days to close from the time you sign your contract documents (although you are usually in the DVC system and able to use your points within 3-4 days of signing your paperwork). If you made your purchase via credit card and the incentives change, DVC will just issue you a credit to the card for the difference.

Good luck!

I don't know if it is the same for Add-ons, but my guide said not to worry too much about the "deadline" in the paperwork, and if we wanted to sit on it for a few weeks that was fine. So, if it is the same for add-ons, you could have them draw up the paperwork now, but not sign until 6/15. In our case, I'm really glad we did everything last week, because I snagged the last 1BR MK view at BLT for the last week of Jan.

When I bought a couple years ago, I got the paperwork started to take advantage of an expiring promotion but my guide said no problem waiting about two months before I actually paid and sent in the documents. ;)

I was planning to purchase in August anyway but just starting things a little early to lock in the incentives. These are the extra points that I am buying so I don't need them to make reservations as I will be banking them into 2010 anyway.

If I do things that first week of June, I will miss the statement date on my CC and won't have to worry about the down payment showing up until July. My guide did tell me there was a way to string things out so the balance doesn't get charged to the CC until the 1st week in July. My hope is that by then, new and better incentives may come up--if not, at least I am getting the $8.00 off the 50 (still trying to figure a way to turn that 50 into 100 so I can get $14.00 off)!!!

Plus, doing it in June/July will give me a chance to get all those reward dollars before my August trip!!!
