Totally different mug question

I don't see us getting our money's worth out of the resort mug program, but I love those insulated mugs to use at home; I collect them from just about everywhere we go. So what I was wondering is, are there similar mugs available to purchase at the parks or downtown disney at a lesser price? Maybe in the $3-$5 range? Don't worry - I have no intention of sneaking it in to refill at my resort; I just want an inexpensive mug to take home!

You can find mugs all over Disney World, but I don't recall seeing the plastic insulated type. Possibly at Downtown Disney's World of Disney. I could be wrong, but I can't quite remember seeing similar mugs for a lesser price.

I'll move you over to the budget board. Those good folks know all about finding great bargains!

I have purchased the plastic insulated type similiar to those that are available at the resorts for refill at the parks. I bought a 4th of July one at MGM (2002), A summer fun 2002 one with Lilo and Stitch at Columbia Harbor House and a Spring Break 2003 one at Columbia Harbor House. They are 3.85 and come with a one time choice of soft drink. I would not get any value at the resort so I love these and they are a great souvineer especially since they are dated. Keep in mind that you may have to "hunt them down" becasue they are not available everywhere. Peek into Columbia Harbor House when you walk by, if they have them they will be velcroed to the register so you can see the design. The one at MGM came from a popcorn kiosk.

You could always buy 1 mug at the resort to use for your whole stay. They are good for either hot or cold drinks. My family usually shares 1 mug - looks silly, but I'm not paying $30. for 3 mugs. A lot of the resorts now have the commuter mugs that will fit in a cup holder in the car but the ones in the parks are still the old fashioned, fat mug style.

I got one this past February at the Electric Umbrella in Epcot. It was the first trip we didn't buy mugs at the resorts (we had enough soda in the room with our refrigerated cooler) and the pattern on it matched the kids plastic mugs we get every time we have a sit down meal in Epcot.

BTW, going on a trip all alone next month and Electric umbrella is on my list of must dos, LOL. I love their chicken fingers and fries. No one else means no sit downs here

You can buy these mugs in MGM at Fantasmic, they come filled with Hot Chocolate and cost about $5.00

Great options! I especially like the Fantasmic idea, except that I doubt I'll be wanting hot chocolate in June. Oh, well. If I like the mug I may buy it anyway.

Usually in the summer they have a cold bev. in them. In 01 it was a lemonade slushy thing.
