Part Five: Our third amazing day!
Our alarm was set for 7 am and we managed to make it to breakfast for 07:45 am (For breakfast see Day 1). Today we were heading to the Disney Studios. When we arrived there we waited inside Studio One until the big doors at the end were opened, and as we walked into the Park all the CMs were lining the walkway waving and clapping which was really nice. The first thing we noticed was how big Tower of terror now was....
Our first destination was Rock and Roller Coaster, and surprise surprise, the kids decided that they would sit this one out ..where did that wimp gene come from! R & R was a walk on, and straight into the loading area no pre-show at all! The ride was as good as ever, more comfortable (padded head rests) than Space Mountain, although I prefer the effects of SM myself.
After a couple of rides on R & R we decided to have a go on CyberSpace Mountain . a new experience for me (Tony had done this in Disney Quest). We had to endure the Playhouse Disney presentation, but we positioned ourselves at the door for a quick exit, and were second in the line for CSM. Tony assured me that this simulator didnt actually place you in inverted positions it just made you feel as though it did. That was fine, I could just about manage that! So we designed a really wild ride, and the kids, who were next to us, designed a really tame one no surprises there then. Then we entered the capsule, and I wondered why you needed full body restraints if it didnt invert you, but thought it was more than likely just to add to the experience. Then we started, and every time the coaster looped and corkscrewed, so our little seat completely inverted ..THANKS TONY!!!!!! I came out feeling a bit green around the edges. We watched the kids in their capsule on a little screen on the capsule door.
When we all descended the stairs, I suddenly realised that what we could see on the little door screens was also showing on large screens in the queueing area ..whoops! I just hope the waiting people couldnt lip read!!!!!!
After this experience we decided to have a nice leisurely ride on the Backlot Tour and we survived Catastrophe Canyon and the Reign of Fire dragon in one piece.
Its a shame they dont have any POTC memorabilia on this ride, as they do in MGM (according to my sister who has just returned from there). Taryn and Daniel then encountered this guy while looking for Nemo....
We then watched the Lilo and Stitch show which was quite cute. It was now getting really hot so we headed for a cool down in Cinemagique ..we sat on the row in front of the mobile phone chap, who had a really obvious wig on, which made him look very strange. I think he sussed out that we knew he was a part of the show by the way the kids kept turning round and smirking at him poor chap! This show is always very good, but I think they need to put some footage of POTC in the film .it would be really good if he appeared on the deck of the Black Pearl or something and had an encounter with Jack or Davy Jones!
We decided to try the Backlot restaurant for lunch, as this was a place I have never tried and we were pleasantly surprised! The food was different from the usual fast food type and we all had something different. Tony had a mushroom and cheese croque monsieur, Daniel had a Mickey shaped pizza,
and Taryn and I shared a ham and cheese baguette (with no ham on Taryns half!). The French patisserie items looked really nice so Tony and I shared a Mille Feuille (like a vanilla slice only much nicer) and the kids had brownie / cookie. I was also very tempted with a chocolate choux bun, but on this occasion knew when to draw the line! This will definitely now be on the list of recommended lunch venues!
After lunch we decided to watch Moteurs Action as we had missed this in December due to the freezing weather. The driving was as clever as ever! Then we headed for the Art of Animation, which was ok, but as Taryns headphones didnt work she had to use mine and so I spent the whole presentation trying to understand the French .I was amazed how much I worked out. (nothing to do with having seen it about 5 times already!). It was then time to see the Cruella de Vil show, which was quite good. I liked the singing bits in it, although the 2 singing guys looked a bit strange. None of us got picked to participate .I think we must look too keen! They seem to pick on the ones who look the most embarrassed!
We then headed for Animagique but we had just missed the start and they wouldnt let us in so instead we went to look around the shop, as Tony was still on his elusive pin mission. We managed to purchase 3 Limited Edition Stitch POTC pins which had been released that day. They had them under the counter!! When we were in the shop, Taryn witnessed a bizarre experience when Pluto ran into the shop, picked up a bunch of Pluto character toys and then ran back out again!!!!
By now we had exhausted the Studios and ourselves, so we headed out of the Studios, snapping these guys on the way out...although I don't know who the one in the dress is (answers on a postcard please!)
So it was back to the Holiday Inn for a swim, before getting ready to go out for dinner at our favourite Disney restaurant: The Blue Lagoon (which interestingly enough has been getting some bad reviews on the DLP food site of late).
Here we are looking for treasure.....
We, however, had a fantastic meal as per usual, with excellent service and an almost waterside table. Tony had his prawn starter,
and then we both had the Colonial Curry.
Taryn and Daniel both opted for the Black Pearl burger.
For dessert we had an ice cream sundae, and the kids had the chocolate chip cake. We also had our AP Kir aperitif (free) and a nice bottle of Chardonnay and our bill was only 96 euros (cheaper than Annettes and Café Mickey).
Tony and I in The Blue Lagoon:
Now no prizes for guessing what we did next we of course rode Pirates of the Caribbean .3 times! We then wandered up to Phantom Manor, did the ride and then spent some time looking for the candle in the window.
The CM was pulling funny faces at us from the doorway above!
After this Tony and the kids went to BTM and rode 3 times, while I went up to Main Street to film Fantillusion on my camcorder. We all met up again at the Central Plaza to watch the amazing Wishes and I cried again .probably as it was our last Wishes this trip! We then whizzed up the arcade in an attempt to beat the main Street rush. It was very busy but we made it onto the first shuttle bus back to the Holiday Inn. I did a bit of reluctant packing and then to bed! Last day tomorrow.
