Our trip was booked 9/29 - 10/7. 8 wonderful nights w/ the 40% code at ASMo w/ 5 day passes and dining. Our friends and their children would be traveling at the same time, same resort, and we were planning to have a welcome dinner together at Chef Mickeys, a few times at the pool together and part of MNSSHP!!!

THEN, free dining came out and the dates ended on the 22nd. I FINALLY found availability (and put a deposit) for 9/22 - 9/29. 7 nights w/ 5 day passes and FREE dining. This saves me over $550. A nice chunk of change. But now i have to hurry to see if my schedule of days still makes sense and what ADRs can be made. I really wish we could have stayed til 9/30 (maybe that extra day will open up for me!!!!!) so we could end w/ dinner w/ them as they begin their vaca'n. That would certainly make this easier.

I don't know, saving money is nice, but moving us up a week does mean ds misses 5 vs.4 days of school. I'm also concerned about the love bugs. Those dreaded beasts. We have traveled over Columbus day weekend 2x, last year was quite crowded. We arrived on that sat before just as the love bugs were moving out. I'd hate to think we moved ourselves right into their midst.

well, thanks for listening. Any suggestions????

I hope that you are able to get the extra night so you can do dinner with your friends. The free dining is hard to pass up, we did it in '05 and it was awesome!

The dates you went are just about the exact days we went that year and I don't even remember any love bugs. Either there weren't any or else I was having so much fun I didn't notice them. :goodvibes

Thanks. I think I'm going to call Disney and see if I can add the extra night that way. I suppose worse case, I could add it w/out free dining. My "free" portion would still cover me through midnight on the day I check-out allowing me to do the dinner w/ them. It will mean we'd have to check out and back in on that Sat but since it's mostly a day of rest after the party...and then maybe a trip to DTD or possibly Spectro that night it wouldn't be a real hardship. we wouldn't be trying to do a park.

hmmmmm. I'm sensing this might work. Though I'm still nervous about those darn bugs. I don't remember them at all in 2003...but last year, the 1st 2 days they were pretty bad at POFQ and people at the bus stop would say that is NOTHING compare to how they were earlier in the week.

Sounds like a great trip! You're lucky your children are young enough to miss school - unless you have standardized testing going on during that time, I can't see how school would mind a seven year old missing one extra day of school.

I can't speak about the love bugs, somehow we've always managed to miss them. This year you'll be able to miss the crowds of Columbus Day!

I would definatly add a day so you don't feel like you miss out on anything. The Love bugs were there in full swing when we went last year. (Sept 13-23), the year before we went 9/30-10/09 and i did not see any. Where they annoying, yes. Did it hinder us from our vacation, no not at all. We had a great time batting at them and making jokes. LOL They were the worst near water. I am sure you will have a great time. Free food makes you forget about that kind of thing;)

We were there last year and the love bugs were horrible (9/30 - 10/10). The worst was in AK. Word of advice they like white or light clothes and hair in my kids case. One car in the parking lot at POFQ was literally covered in them. They are a nuisance but they don't bite or anything...
