Hello Dis Friends,

We are doing EMM at HS. Other than Toy Story Land and Tower of Terror there really isn't much that my family likes right now in HS so we have made Fastpasses for that day at AK in the late afternoon/early evening, but we would really like to ride TOT before we leave HS in the morning. My plan was to ride the Toy Story Land rides until 9 am, then eat the EMM breakfast and then hit TOT on the way out, but I've been seeing that TOT wait times by 10 am are almost 2 hours! I guess this is because of the refurbishment.

My question: If I am in the park for EMM is there a way for me to get to TOT before the Rope Drop crowd and be first on when it opens? If we can do that then we should have time to do TOT and then head to our EMM breakfast which is open until 10 am.

Thanks!!!

Leave TSL 15-20 min. before the posted DHS opening time and walk over to ToT.
Walk just past the front of Brown Derby.

Thank You for your reply. Are you saying that I will be able to get to TOT ahead of the Rope Drop crowd? I've never done Rope Drop at HS so I'm just not sure if they hold the Rope Drop crowd on Hollywood Boulevard or are they held on Sunset Blvd. If they are held on Sunset Blvd then I don't think there would be a way for me to get around them to TOT and would just end up as part of the crowd. Thanks again.

You may want to check out some recent reviews on the DHS EMM thread. Getting a quick ride on ToT right after EMM used to be a good/easy strategy... but since 1/2 the ride has been offline for refurb recently, things have not been as smooth. The line builds bonkers fast. Many have said it ended up not being a productive strategy.

I wouldn't even try. We headed over there after our 7/29 EMM and at 9:10, the line was listed at 110 or 125 minutes, I can't quite remember...it was a lot. We just decided to single rider RnRC and only waited about 15-20 minutes.

My recommendation, what we did anyway, was get in line toward the end of the day. We got in line at 8:45, and were on our way to the bus at 10:05, the wait was about an hour, although the listed wait time was 2 hours. The benefit is, we didn't wait an hour during park time, wasting precious time during the day. And, we had the park nearly all to ourself as we left, so we got some great pictures. And the lines at the buses were minimal, so we beat the crowd. Plus, ToT is best at night. It was a win-win-win.

Now, in order to do this, you'll probably need a break midday since you will be up quite early. But, it worked well for us.

I would also add that you should keep checking the wait times for ToT, since they've been very vague about the date it will be fully re-opened. Depending on when your trip is, you might just stumble upon much shorter wait times.

It’s still under refurbishment today. I would wait until it’s finished. Long lines and other attractions also have been going fine routinely. We arrived Friday and TSM was down one entire evening, Little mermaid, seemingly one entire day, slinky dog this am. And none of these were weather related, weather can cause slinky dog to go down as well.

Thanks!! I'm going in 2 weeks so maybe I'll get lucky and the refurb will be done.

We did an early morning magic and this was how we tackled it.
We arrived early and as soon as we were let into the park we grabbed a quick breakfast and headed to get in line by 7:20. At that point they had started to let everyone in. We stayed in the land until 8:45 am (unfortunately for us SDD was not running during our EMM so we were given 2 FP to use later in the day once it was up and running). At 8:45am we headed over to TOT and were ahead of the RD crowds. We were able to ride twice before the wait built up. Then we went to breakfast, which was around 9:40.

With refurbishment going on I would not wait to ride after breakfast -- you will either have to choose between a very long wait or not riding at all.

Thank you!! My kids really want to do TOT so I'll try your plan. Fingers crossed I have the same luck you did. Thanks again!

Waits have been averaging around 90 minutes today which is shorter than recently on weekends.

Current wait: 25 minutes. I’m going to speculate that means they’re operating at higher or full capacity.
