Disney emailed me that the ToT 13K reg will open on 3/14. They also said check around 3/7 for pricing of the race.

It is funny that they had the EEC pricing up for weeks before reg but won't put up prices until the week before for ToT. I think they are hiding the $100 price :confused3

We better see some improvements if it is indeed $100.00.

We are gonna get our $100 worth of fun.

Thanks Robert.

I think the main things to change would be a tech shirt and a 1 day 1 park pass like they are doing for EEC. Hopefully they will give everyone a full 2 hrs after the race cutoff(like EEC). Still, I am not sure it will be worth it to us.

I have a feeling they will get rid of the DVC/Cast member discount too. Just like in EEC:confused3

I had already marked this one off the list... (And I probably could use the ticket on this one, my AP will have expired by then....)

Sorry, but I thought it was a rip off last year. I think I will let other find out if Disney has figured out how to run this race.

Now I am still thinking about Race for the Taste....

Thank you for the news Robert. In spite of the troubles last fall, and there were more than a few, I had an absolutely wonderful weekend last October. This year we will be 3, as our 23 year old daughter will be joining us for the weekend and the race.

The only problem is we'll be out of the country on March 14, and won't have access to a computer. Since I got into the registration system so fast last year and got bib #7, I was asked lots of times before the race, "how fast are you?" I had to tell them I wasn't fast on the roads, but I'm quick with a mouse!

Is it too early to hope for no rain, heat, and humidity that evening?

Craig

I had fun at the race as well. I wish they did some things better but the issue I will have is if they try to shove a 1 day 1 park pass on us. I have AP's so it is useless. They only allow a 10 day window on them so not good in the future either. If I have to pay $60 for 2 worthless tickets, we will probably be out of the race. We will still be coming to F&W and have our FE of mini golf/dinner race day. We will just wait for the party at DHS to end and join up with Dave and his pool side party. We might be a few ahead of the rest of you:)

Thanks for the info Robert. We've got the same issue with DVC and APs.
Was really looking forward to this run but may have to rethink it if is $100 with no discounts. What did it cost last year?

However we are already booked at Fort Wilderness for the entire week and I will not miss F&W so will be there regardless. Still join everyone for FE mini golf and what is this pool party I've seen referenced? Sounds like fun.

Robert-You might be able to do something with the tickets to recoup at leat some of the cost (not sure if they are transferrable but **for at least one WISHer** his annual pass will have expired and he might be interested in another day at a park. (hint ... hint...)) More importantly, make sure your knee is ready. I didn't do the 13K last year and the 6.5K was all on the roads, but there was some "trail" portions to the 13K, wasn't there?

Lastly, you BWV Partying WISHers better not make me have to go down there because you're disturbing my beauty sleep. Remember, some of us need more beauty sleep than others (even if it won't actually work, at least at WDW we can "dream" it will).

Yes, my wife and I did the 13k last year, and there was about 1/2 a mile of "dirt road" that dumped us into the back end of WWOS.

Also, has there been any announcement regarding whether there will be a 6.5 and a 13k this year? We were wanting to bring the kids with us this time around and the 4 of us do the 6.5k, then still have enough energy left over to ride TOT and RRC... :goodvibes

I think Robert had already posted that there will only be a 13K.

We plan to be there at the end of October, though our dates are flexible. If you had to choose between Race for the Taste or ToT, which would you choose?

Last year the TOT 13k was my longest race ever and my first at Disney so it is always going to hold a special spot in my heart. It is the start of my Disney race obsession - already signed up for Minnie 15k, EE 5k with DH and the full marathon in January.

I had already planned on being at the TOT 13k this year (and still plan on it) I am glad to hear they decided to not make the 1 day ticket mandatory in the registration. I might wait a bit before registering for the TOT this year mainly based on finances. I was supposed to be out of the country on March 14 for business (actually flying back that day) but the trip is most likely been cancelled so I will be able to check out registration the day it opens (and knowing me my arm will be twisted just enough to register that day!!!) Its a sick obsession I have!! LOL

Similar to Tricia/TnTsParty, the ToT was my first Disney event, but also my first (and to date, only) race event of any kind. I have never done Race for the Taste, but greatly enjoyed ToT as it was a night event which made it different and the ability to play in the park after was also fun. I am a walker and did the 6.5K last year. I anticipate that Disney will work out some of last year's kinks, but even though it was warm and humid that night, the start was delayed due to traffic issues, the "party" in the park was shorter as a result of the delayed start (they did not extend the time to correspond with the delayed start) and my back caused issues that I am still working out, I had a great time doing the event and meeting WISHers live for the first time (as there were many there and it sounds like there may be a good size contingent again this year). I currently plan to be there for ToT again this year.

Make that a pothole filled, waterlogged dirt road. What a mess.

Oddly enough, I really liked the wet, pot-holey, dirt road. Running up it while trying to avoid other runners and the muck was fun. Well at least to me  .

Village People will be there for the Eat to the Beat Concert Serries, gotta get my construction worker outfir together.
