pirate: What do you think turn the old Discovery Island into Tortuga Bar and Grill. Give us a good place to go drink and eat might even dance. Plus it should only be for FW WL and CR. What you think. They could definitely have a rum bar. Possibilities are endless, maybe.pirate:

I think I would be there every night! :thumbsup2

The logistics of setting something like that up on Discovery Island would probably be a nightmare, but you know the boats would be packed bringing in the people from the lagoon/bay lake resorts.

If you really want to get crazy, I'd love to see them do this with Discovery Island AND River Country combined. Have Discovery be more of a Pirate's Cove type Bar/Grill, with River Country turned into a Tortuga themed outside bar area. You could have boats running between the two, as well as the FW dock, WL, and the CR. Again, logistically nuts, but in my mind it sure looks sweet.

But think of the late night noise for the Fort turning River Country into a night club. Families not interested in partying, who have been awake since 6am getting ready for rope drop, are ready to sleep by 10pm, especially when disneying with a couple of small kids. Discovery Island might would work out though. It could be an interesting idea for them to kick around.

if they're getting up at 6am, then they should stay up all night.

I had thought they could use river country as the launching point of the boats for both FW and WL to cut down on boat travel. Then just swing over to CR and back to our pirate bar. On the back side of the island the could have fires on the beach where you could drink a $7.00 beer and watch MK fire works. Just thank it would be nice to have some outdoor night life by FW and out there it might not bother us campers. Please add you thoughts maybe some one more importiant then me is reading.pirate:

I agree, Ft. Wilderness does need a bit of night life. I mean, jeez, Crockett's closes at 10pm. Granted the Contemporary has quite a few bars just across the water, but they are all "inside".

I would love an outside bar that was open a bit later at the Fort.

I think they should move the Luau from the Polynesian and do a Real Luau with using the imu to cook the pig etc.... It would be more tropical than the back yard of the Polynesian. They could add a Beach Bar etc...for those not attending the Luau.

How ironic - apparently when I was camping at FW last October one of the many people who stopped by the Kiwi for a Kungaloosh was John Lasseter. He was so impressed with my variation that he not only wants Disney to open Discovery Island as a themed pub, but wants old FWGuy to be the head mixologist. I know this is true, because I have heard from 2 FW CM's, one bus driver, and somebody who claims to be a the weekend night manager at FW. I'm not making any promises, but when this happens a couple of you are on my list for never having to pay for a Kungaloosh while I'm on duty.:thumbsup2

FOLKS, please remember to take GOOD CARE of your bartender, he works hard at keeping you inebriated, and keeps a smile on his face while doing it!!!;)

I LIKE this idea! Very, very clever & a good use for a wasted resource!

I vote for "Kungaloosh Jim" to be chief bartender! I heard it from a Peacock Wrangler at FtW that FtWGuy (aka "Kungaloosh Jim") wanted to move to Florida and FtW in particular. Maybe a guaranteed job would lure him here!!!:thumbsup2
