I've been visiting the Cruise Critic boards (am I allowed to reference cc?) for excursion recommendations. I've decided the Baths are out (kids are whiners and I'd like to come back into the country with the same number of kids I leave with). To be honest, the only other excursions I really see our Cane Garden Bay and Brewer's Bay. Brewer's Bay is out because everyone talks about "rustic restrooms" (no, no, no). When I google Cane Garden Bay and look at pictures, it doesn't look all that great. Actually it looks depressing from google images I'm seeing. What am I missing because apparently this Cane Garden Bay appears to be the next biggest draw aside from the Baths?

How old are your kids? My 9 and 12 your old complained they didn't want to the Baths, but once we did it was "Best excursion EVER!"

They will be 6 and 11...and my 11 y/o is very, very uncoordinated and minimal athletic ability. He's been known to fall down just standing still. :confused3

I am 52 years old, asthmatic, never excercise and morbidly...Pooh-sized and I did it.

Sorry, I'm sure you are not looking to get talked into the Baths, but it is pretty cool

Can't give input on the other excursions, sorry. The other time we were in Tortola we did some sort of tour of the island.

What's missing is the fact that Tortola is a small island with little in the way of natural wonders or cultural attractions. That's why many experienced cruisers prefer off-island excursions there.

All Baths/Virgin Gorda tours were cancelled on our Tortola day last month, so we settled for the Cane Garden Bay Island Tour & Beach Break DCL excursion & it was miserable. The drivers were apparently misinformed by the dispatchers of which tour it was, so they took all of the trucks on the wrong tour. Finally we realized they didn't know what they were doing & informed them, so we eventually got to the beach...The beach was fine, but not worth everything else.

I have one like that. When he runs he make me think of Elaine on Seinfield dancing. It's just painful to watch. He has managed to hike around Volcano's, waterfalls and climb rocks without breaking anything. I would give it a shot.

We also loved our Baths excursion. The Devils Bay part was out favorite. If some in your party don't want to do the over and under hike, you could just take the easy path near the restrooms (??) to and back from Devils Bay.

We went to Cane Garden Bay in Dec. when we arrived in Tortola to late to go to The Baths. It was fine but nothing out of this world. We did it ourselves. Took a large safari bus taxi and rented two chairs and an umbrella. We got some jerk chicken and some beers from one of the stands. The sand was soft and the waves were not to big for our 4 YO. Overall we had a relaxing day but I'm still sad we missed The Baths.

We have it narrowed down to a Dolphin excursion in Tortola or a private charter with Aristocat Charters. Check those out if either appeals to you. I agree it seems like there isn't a lot of options in Tortola compared to other stops.
