DH and I would love to hear some recent reviews of Tortilla Joe's. I want to give it a try in March but we've read some not too favorable reviews in the past. We love Mexican food but don't want to be disappointed. Thanks!

We went in October. The food was good. I had fajitas, Dh had a carnitas burrito. We got a lot of food and were satisfied. We would go back if we were in the mood for mexican food.

I just went this past weekend and enjoyed it! I agree it was NOT good a few years back but I had it this past trip and also in June and liked it.

Tortilla Jo's is always one of my go to places. DH not so much, but that's because he's not a big Mexican food fan. Yet, each time he goes he eats everything on his plate. ;) I LOVE their chili rellanos...but only on the a la carte menu. I did it once as a dinner and I think they nuked the rice and beans with the chili on the plate and it came out dry. And their margaritas are super yummy!!

Our family enjoys TJs. We usually go there on Sat evenings so we can also see the Divas perform.

Thanks for all the great responses! I'm putting on our "To Enjoy" list for our upcoming visit.

We love it. It is a bit more authentic and not "typical" mexican place. The service is stellar and it is our usual DDT dining spot.

We ate lunch once and dinner once on our past November trip. I can say that I am not a fan of their carne asada... way too thick. However, other things were good with large portions. We were always happy with the service. It's on our list every trip.

Ate dinner there in December using the free birthday gift certificate from Patina. I thought it was pretty good but overpriced. The margaritas and chips and salsa were great!

It's a regular stop for us. Primarily the patio for margs and nachos. I think the food is pretty good.

It was on the list for last time we were there but we didn't make it. Putting it back on the list for next time!

Went there this past Oct and while the food was good it was super expensive!

I've eaten there twice, both times I've had less than stellar days after....the food has been very good, the service has been amazing but I don't like the next 2 days after when my body is rejecting whatever it is they put in it. lol Seriously, regular trips to the bathroom and Pepto have been my best friends after eating there. I won't go back. Good luck to you! I hope your experience is better than mine. :)

I've heard this more times than I can count. I'll probably skip it :rotfl:

We've been several times. My family has a Mex background and we enjoy it. It's a little more touristy Mex food but it's good. One thing we had last time was the guac and chips. A little Mexican lady came to our table with a cart and hand made the guac from fresh avocados there at the table. I'm not a big guac fan but this was really good!!! Price, of course it's not cheap, but so is everything else there at Downtown Disney. It's comparable to what is there.
But our favorite thing about it is the tequila selection. I LOVE tequila and so does my wife. They have a really nice tequila bar with tons of choices. Definitely something to check out. Have done several " tequila flights" there before. The margs are good too.

I didn't consider it that much more expensive than any of the other restaurants in DTD (ESPN Zone and Rain Forest), and cheaper than a few also (Catal, Naples).

I'm glad we've never had your problems! My kids and I love it there.

I love the guac there, and I like that I can tell them how I want it!! And enjoy the tequila there. I like when they bring around tasting shots. Will have to do the tequila flights!

DW and I split the chicken nachos and that's enough for us. Maybe a cerveza or margarita too. :cool1:

My wife does not like mexican food but she likes to eat here, the rest of the family enjoys the food, no GI problems. Not a must stop but we seem to fit it in. Years back it STUNK.

I've been there are multiple Disney trips and usually think it's okay, however, this last December I had not so great service and didn't much care for the food. I don't think we'll rush to back on our next trip. :confused3

We've always liked it and it has become almost our tradition that we go there on our first night in the area. We don't have much for Mexican food in our home area so I like to go to TJs. The food portions are huge and we never can eat it all. The tequila selection is great and I always try something different.
