Toronto is having its Spring Pin Meet !

When :
Saturday, April 22nd, 2006, 9:00am - 3:00pm

Where :
Fairview Library, 35 Fairview Mall Dr. Toronto, Ontario, M2J 4S4, Phone : 416-395-5750, Meeting Room "2" (lower level)

Directions :
Closest major intersection: Don Mills Rd. and Sheppard Ave. East. Located on the north side of Fairview Mall which is on the northeast corner of Don Mills and Sheppard Ave. East. Easy access from all major highways, Multi hotels close by (for those who might be coming from out of town)

Parking :
Free parking available.

Public Transit :
TTC bus #85, 139 or 10 from Sheppard subway station to Don Mills Rd., walk 2 blocks north on Don Mills Rd. or change to Don Mills Rd. bus north. TTC bus #25 from Pape subway station to Fairview Mall Dr. Subway Sheppard, get off at Don Mills station.

Food :
There are vending machines on the main floor for pop or juices, cold food / sandwiches are allowed in the room (sorry, no hot food !)

Sorry that Toronto is too far for you to travel.. We tried to find a location that was acessable by car and/or public transport (bus and subway). We have people coming from Burlington, Hamilton, Whitby, New York state.... If its a matter of transportation, maybe we can find someone in the Mississauga area that is going and could pick you up ? Its a shame you'll miss it as we have a great time talking about our visits to the parks, our latest pin buys (and trades) and we have fun going through each others pins looking for trades (and most time we find some great trades too). You couldn't find a greater group of people that love this hobby and like to share. It doesn't matter if you only have 10 pins or even 1000's, its nice to have a close look at some pins you never even knew were out there. So, if there's any way you could make it out, please try because you won't regret it, I promise you !
I wouldn't hold your breath for there being a meet in Mississauga, just come on over to ours...

This is a long shot but...I don't suppose you were in Orlando in December were you? When I was in a Character Warehouse sifting through the pins bin, there were people from Oshawa and Whitby...and then I saw the same couple when we were boarding our West Jet flight back.

It would just be too funny if that was you.

(Boy, this is like one of those questions...you're from Toronto? Do you know whatshisname from Vancouver?)

Could it have been Bob and Juanita (from Whitby) ? They will be there on the 22nd and they were at WDW in December with their family. Small world...
Now if we could only find a way for Sandra to attend, hmmmm anyone else form the Mississauga area planning on attending ???

It is pretty fun how small the world actually is. (I have this urge to break into an annoying song from you know where...but I will resist.)

Here's an open question...what do you all put your pins? Right now, they're all in a big ziplock bag until I can figure out what to do with them. I didn't buy one of those expensive pin trading albums when I was there...mainly because I decided late in the trip that I'd start this hobby (pins are easier to take home than t-shirts and why do you I need so many t-shirts anyway???)

Am looking on Ebay for trading lots right now but I dunno...a lot don't really appeal to me so I think...would it appeal to others who aren't cast members and are required to trade with me?

There are so many ways to store / display your pins, such as going to any office store and buying ordinary binders and plastic inserts and just pinning the pins to that. Going to Michael's and buying 'stretched canvas', covering with felt (cheapest at Wal-Mart) putting your pins on that (nice feature is that you can hang them on the wall for display as well as they are stackable for bringing to local pin meets). Buying felt (again at Wal-Mart), cutting them into 6 inch wide stripes by 8 feet lengths and hanging those on the wall... The list goes on and on. You can also come to the pin meet in April and ask other collectors how THEY store / display their pins.

PS: I've also heard others take empty cereal boxes, cover them with all kinds of different colours of paper and display their pins that way too !

I have two lanyards filled with pins and one small binder that I made myself. I three-hole-punched black felt and placed the felt in the binder. While in WDW last week my dd bought the cutest pin purse with Tinker Bell on it! I think it was $15-$20. The large pin binder/carrying case was $38US in WDW. S

Just a reminder the the Toronto Spring Pin Meet is less then 3 weeks ahead (April 22nd). If you're into Disney and pins, you HAVE to make it ! We hold the meet in a room at the library (not the eating area at a mall) so that means we can't get kicked out for talking too loud or having too much fun. We have tables and chairs for upto forty Disney fans... so there's room for everyone !!

Come on out ! You won't be sorry you came !!!

I'm looking forward to this day! I just came back from Walmart and have been putting my pins onto the felt. I need to go back and get more but they're out of black right now

LOL I don't think I could trade any of them but I'll bring them along for people to look at. haha It's funny how you can get attached to something because it's the "oh, i got that when..." pin.

I've got a bunch of pins from Hong Kong Disneyland too (off Ebay).

I can't wait!

There's a Disney outlet near Vegas???? Where??? We're going to Vegas this December instead of Disney World but it seems that everywhere I go, there's something Disney so I can get my fix in.
