I have been told there are couple of Disney stores in the greater Toronto area. For anyone who's shopped there, can you tell me if the prices at these Cdn. Disney retail locations comparable to those found online through the Disney Store?

I want to pick up Disney t's and sweatshirts for our family before we go to Disney World in January. T-shirts online are a very reasonable $12.50 US (an in many cases, even cheaper). But then there's exchange on the currency, shipping, duty and tax to factor in. On the flip side, I live about 2.5 hours from Toronto so there's definitely the cost of gas to consider if we decide to purchase in Canada.

Any help you can give me is appreciated!!

We were at Scarborough Town today, and the clothing selection was rather slim. They were clearing out children's t-shirts for $7. There were no sweatshirts, and I don't recall seeing adult clothing. Most of the store was taken up by Halloween costumes (at full price).

The stores do not carry the same stuff as online. Keep in mind there is a lot of duty and shipping fees to order off their website. You're better off stopping at the Super Wal-mart in ORlando for cheap Disney wear.

i spent about $100 last year, and paid $25 or so for shipping, and another $20 or so for Customs.

The prices are a cheaper, but it does not work out any different when you take everything into exchange

the line of product is completely differnet IMHO and I believe the CDN Disney Stores are owned and operated by Children's Place - Not Disney. I find prices reasonable but I wouldn't make a special 2.5 drive to get there just to shop. The GTA stores seems to carry different lines - there are a lot of clothes at Fairview while I think Yorkdale is more toys. And Vaughan Mills is all clearance stuff.

Disney online is a great deal but you have to find an american address to ship it to to make it worthwhile.

Happy shopping!

I have read on the boards that some Canadian's will order from Disney Website and then have the items delivered to the hotel that they are staying at to avoid the huge shipping & customs costs

I believe all the t-shirts at the Vaughan Mills store are $7. I didn't look at the variety of sizes but there were 2 or 3 tables full of shirts.

I ordered everything on line before we left for the Pop Century in August. Ordered quite a bit of stuff (200+ dollars) and had it shipped directly to Pop. You are able to track the shipping so I knew when the package arrived. When we checked in I asked the CM if there was a parcel waiting and she replied yes. Then she said that we needed to get a dolly from luggage services because the box was 30lbs!!:rotfl2: Thank goodness new luggage was inside that box:thumbsup2 It worked out very well. The DD's got some very reasonably priced souvenirs and I saved on the outrageous shipping and duties charges to Canada.

I was in the Disney Store in Ottawa today and all t-shirts were $7, both children's and adult's. I'm kicking myself for not getting more for the kids and "surprising" them with them when we're down there (and so I won't have to pay WDW prices:scared1: )

I just happened to be checking the Disney online shopping site yesterday, and they have their graphic t-shirts on for $5 each :cheer2: . They have a big fall sale with over 700 items at reduced prices. So for $5, I'm willing to pay the exchange, shipping, duty and taxes. It will still work out OK, considering I'm 2.5 hours from Toronto and about 3 from Ottawa, and would have to shell out some big $$'s for gas if I drove to a Disney store in either city (our gas price is 137.9 a litre here right now :scared1: ).

I told my frugal hubby that in order to make the shipping fees worthwhile, we'll just have to order a whole bunch of stuff. Lucky for him, he agreed  .
